Mike Tyson Says He Smokes $40K in Weed Monthly

Former boxing champion and living legend Mike Tyson has had a rollercoaster of a career. His monthly weed budget of $40,0000 could be the reason he’s settled down lately, and what he’s most famous for at the moment.

According to Fortune last year, Tyson Ranch was a hotly-anticipated “cannabis resort,” and it looks like the man himself has been hanging around the venue during its construction. An extension of Iron Mike's Tyson Holistic Holdings brand, a marijuana brand for recreational and medical partakers alike, the boxer appears to be hustling hard to make it big in the weed biz.

In a recent clip from his podcast Hotboxin' with Mike Tyson, which is now making the circuit, the former heavyweight champion of the world claims to smoke about $40,000 worth of pot in a single month. His friends go even further with the comical — but perhaps still believable — claim, doubling down to say that they smoke 10 tons of bud in the span of 30 or 31 days.

This isn't the only headline Tyson has made this year for his love of pot. In February, the soft-spoken ring veteran was caught puffing on a huge log of a joint with Cypress Hill rapper B-Real. The foot-long joint made a huge impression on social media, with many '80s and 90's kids appreciating the union of three of their favorite things: Mike Tyson, Cypress Hill and extravagant pot-smoking sessions.

Tyson Ranch's preliminary advertising shows that they are targeting an elite and sophisticated segment of the stoner marketplace, utilizing terms such as “terpenes,” “trichomes” and “flavonoids” to show that they're in the know. Gold text over a velvety black background affords a natural air of luxury to the branding, and advertising of an upcoming charity golf tournament solidifies this bougie look.

In short, Mike Tyson wants to be the king of the bud business just as he was the king of the ring.

Proving his penchant for excess — after all, Tyson was well-known for having homed a trio of Bengal tigers while wearing the world championship strap — it remains something of a mystery whether or not the boxer and his buddies actually put down $40,000 worth of smoke in a month or not. Beyond this bold claim, the man known for throwing hands also said that he was pushing between $400,000 and $500,000 a month of his product out to dispensaries for sale.

If there's any truth to those words, Mike Tyson might be flying high on his own supply but he may also be building a legacy luxury brand to support it all the while.
