It’s safe to say that collaborations are an integral part of modern sneaker culture. Nike has OFF-WHITE to thank for the explosion in popularity of silhouettes like the Presto and Zoom Fly SP as a result of their “The Ten” collection, while many speculate that Kanye West quite literally saved Adidas by partnering up with them for the infamous Yeezy line.

Jordan is probably best known for their countless collaborations that rendered rare silhouettes, fetching resale price tags in the thousands of dollars. Rihanna put Puma back on the map with her FENTY line, Nike’s Adapt BB sneaker captured the hearts of tech enthusiasts, as did Vans for fans of space oddities with their David Bowie collaboration.

The list can quite frankly go on forever, as sneaker brands are constantly partnering up with the biggest names in fashion, music, sports and other industries. As for which of them you should have your eyes on, let’s find out below.

 

Bodega x New Balance

The Bodega x New Balance 997S “No Days Off” isn’t the first rodeo between the two brands, as they have a strong history of consistent collaborations. With this silhouette, Bodega worked their magic as usual and developed a premium sneaker that looks just as good in a display case as it does on foot.

With an eccentric mix of tones, materials and mismatched panels, the 997S “No Days Off” is unsurprisingly fetching high resale prices at consignment stores. If you happen to get your hands on one, expect a set of three different laces that are unique to this collaboration, further adding to its uniqueness.

Gyakusou x Nike

Since the sneaker is still widely available at sub-retail prices, it’s safe to say that the Gyakusou x Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 35 Turbo is one of the biggest sleeper collaborations of the year. The smooth, flowing lines that connect the outsole to the upper are expertly highlighted with a blend of black, green and yellow tones, while the toggle lacing system ensures a snug fit.

Overkill x Adidas

The Adidas ZX1000 is already something that you’d have to think twice about buying, as its loud combination of patterns, tones and materials have perplexed sneakerheads from day one. But of course, Overkill stepped things up a notch with their own rendition of the ZX1000, aptly titled “I Can If I Want.”

Upon buying the project, you’ll be greeted with not two, but three shoes. The first two are a pair with green, yellow and red tones, while the second is a single shoe with more blue-heavy colorway. The idea is that you can mix and match the different colorways… or maybe just walk around half-barefoot?

Nike x Hornets

The air max 98 has a prominent history in Nike’s sneaker lineage, so any aspiring collaborator is urged to get things right. Fortunately, the homage to legendary NBA team, the Chicago Hornets, expertly captures the best of both parties. Supple leather, premium suede and rugged rope laces make this rendition one that you’ll want to wear every day.

Unlike most recent releases from the brand, the Nike x Hornets Air Max 98 is still fairly easy to get your hands on for a good price. You can pick up a pair of these at , along with a variety of other 98’s that are sure to satisfy any sneakerhead who has a particular taste for Air bubbles.

Sacai x Nike

Nike is undoubtedly the king of 1970’s runners, with the LDV being a great example. So when the time comes for a brand to offer their own take on the iconic shoe, the pressure to do it justice is noticeable. Fortunately, Sacai delivered. This collaboration is far from a simple colorway change.
Instead, Sacai took things a few steps further and doubled up on each component. That means two swooshes, two tongues, two laces and two soles. Ironically, the silhouette also had two release dates. One that never came to be, and the actual one.

Travis Scott X Jordan

The Jordan 1 is considered by many a shoe that shouldn’t be touched by anyone who doesn’t hold some level of prestige in their industry. Virgil Abloh got it right with his rendition – and so did acclaimed rapper Travis Scott. This was once again much more than just a switch-up of colors.

Aside from the most noticeable component, the reversed swoosh, La Flame also added a stash pocket around the collar of the legendary sneaker. The Astroworld creator also incorporated numerous Cactus Jack references around the silhouette. It’s safe to say that fans were willing to do anything to get their hands on a pair.
