How We Styled Our September Shoot

About a month before each of our Gal Meets Glam Collection photoshoots, we sit down and plan out styling for the upcoming shoot. This includes finding the perfect bags, shoes, and accessories for each piece. This is such a fun task as it allows us to really bring the collection to life. We are often working a season or so in advance, so it always provides a great opportunity to think about the styles we’re excited to wear in the coming season. We had the pleasure of shooting our September Gal Meets Glam Collection pieces at a private horse farm in Virginia. The rolling hills, fields of horses, and quintessential stable were the perfect backdrop for our fall collection. Because many of the pieces are still transitional dresses, jumpsuits, and sweaters, we wanted to make sure that the accessories we paired with each piece could be just as transitional. Each dress, jumpsuit, and sweater within the September collection seamlessly tie together in palette and style so we were able to use many of the same shoes, handbags, and earrings with different looks.

SHORTCODES

Suede Knee High Boots– One item we couldn’t wait to debut were an easy pair of fall boots. We chose a light tan, suede pair from Sam Edelman, which we paired with our Jessie Dress (LINK), Annika Dress (LINK), Wimberly Dress (LINK), Brianna Dress (LINK), Heidi Dress (LINK), and Mariah Dress (LINK). This were the perfect, versatile pair of tall boots to go with so many September styles. We love the look and feel of a loose fit on the calves as well as the slight heel, making each dress more elevated while remaining comfortable. Our models are often walking around in our shoes all day so comfort and functionality, in addition to style, is a huge priority.

Tan Loafers– We knew that we wanted to make some of our dresses feel more casual—pieces you can wear from work to dinner with a girlfriend. For these looks, we chose simple loafers like this tan pair from Franco Sarto. A simple tan leather loafer, these were the perfect neutral shoe for some of our patterned dresses like our Brooke (LINK).

Leopard Flats-When we were styling a solid piece, like our Sybil Jumpsuit (LINK) we often opted to add these leopard flats from J.Crew, which added a pop of pattern. The leopard-printed calf hair of these flats make them a perfect fall staple that will add intrigue to any outfit, after all, leopard is truly a neutral in our book!

Tan Strappy Sandals– One of our most-used styling items, no matter the season, is a tan leather strappy sandal. These are the perfect neutral piece to accompany our more formal or maxi styles, like our Ashlynn (LINK) or Roberta Dresses (LINK). This pair from Sam Edelman is one that we find ourselves reusing time and time again.

Tan Espadrilles– While espadrilles often have a summery feel to them, we believe that our ever-favorite style can be worn all year round. In colder months, we opt to pair our pieces with darker espadrille colors, like this pair from Castaner, which was the perfect neutral style to go with our Autumn Dress (LINK).

Mini Bag– When it comes to handbags, we are very thoughtful about choosing pieces that complement the collection without distracting. We found this saffiano leather mini bag from Neely and Chloe in navy and have been obsessed with it ever since. It is the perfect combination of sophisticated yet modern and it pairs perfectly with so many of our dresses and jumpsuits, like our Ines Dress (LINK), Agnes Dress (LINK), and Hayley Dress (LINK). We even tied our Ashlynn Scarf (LINK) around the handle for a fun twist on one of our favorite fall accessories.

Crossbody Bag– Another one of our favorite handbags from the September shoot was this brown leather crossbody from Madewell. We loved using this bag as it was the perfect size and the neutral color paired so well with many of our pieces, like our Elliot Dress (LINK), not to mention the leopard flats (LINK)!

Tortoise Hoops– While sometimes during shoots we use more jewelry than others, we decided to keep this shoot pretty simple in terms of accessories to let the collection speak for itself. One pair of earrings we used often during the shoot, however, were these tortoise hoops from J. Crew. They were a perfect addition to some of our solid pieces, like our Sybil Jumpsuit (LINK) and Agnes Dress (LINK).
