Nick Offerman Launching His Own Lagavulin Scotch

Fans of ‘Parks and Recreation’ probably recall Ron Swanson keeping a bottle of Lagavulin in his desk at all times, and his emotional pilgrimage to the seaside Scottish distillery, eventually purchasing a majority interest in the company during the show's final season. It seems that Nick Offerman might share his character’s love for scotch, with plans to launch his own.

According to the website, the ‘Offerman Edition’ Lagavulin Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky has sold out but is available for preorder if you can wait until mid/end November for shipment. Helping to craft the label, Offerman appears as a distinguished gentleman sporting an epic beard and shares an equally impressive quote:

"I have traveled the world and sampled many attempts at pleasing nectars, but it is solely this distillation of Islay; a tiny, charismatic Scottish isle, that has claimed my palate. Yea, and my heart into the bargain."

The box the Scotch is sold in also pays homage to both Offerman and Swanson — a wood-grain pattern speaking to the deep love of woodworking shared by the actor and his on-screen character.

Tasting notes for the exclusive Offerman Edition whisky claim to possess the “signature Lagavulin peatiness, but with extra spices and notes of dried fruit to carry the spice.” It is available at an MSRP of $89.99.

Offerman has been infusing YouTube with his storied wisdom and stoic persona — previously partnering up with Lagavulin for the “My Tales of Whiskey” YouTube channel for some time now. Still, there’s no doubt that a bit of buzz is starting to hit the internet in response to this latest news of a new scotch courtesy Offerman and the man also known as Duke Silver.
