Can Post Malone Make You Wear Crocs?

John Cena likes his in navy. Jared Leto has proudly sat front row at New York Fashion Week wearing his in metallic silver. Mario Batali — maybe the most outspoken fan of all — wore his in signature orange in and out of the kitchen.

What are they? Crocs.

The famous — or infamous depending on who you ask — Crocs have seen a surge in streetwear popularity as of late. From designer collabs with Balenciaga and Christopher Kane to Alife and PizzaSlime, the brand seems to seek out influential alliances to get its questionably fashionable footwear featured on all the right feet. Most collections are one-offs but the latest collab dropping is from a habitual offender (defender?) of the irrigated clog: Post Malone.

“This latest drop with Crocs is our best yet,” Malone said of his latest design for the brand. “I wanted to make a more tactical and chunky shoe and they gave me all the tools to do just that. I think they came out really neat, and I hope everyone loves them as much as I do.”

The suped-up clog comes in a unique black and blue urban camo pattern with an exaggerated chunky outsole and pivotable back straps that feature an adjustable hook and loop closure.

His fourth collection with the brand isn’t out quite yet, but he announced December 4 via Twitter that he was working with his pals at the South Lake, Texas-based Chicken Express (Malone is a Texas native himself and used to be employed by the chicken chain) to surprise local fans with an early preview. In an effort to have them help spread the news about the upcoming launch, fans who showed up that day were pleasantly surprised with a side of Crocs for free from the latest collaboration.

Available online and at select stores worldwide for $59.99 beginning December 10, at 10:00 a.m. you can peep the style early to see if you have anything to wear them with.

Pete Davidson (who recently “broke the Internet”), Justin Bieber (who just launched his gender-neutral deodorant collab with Schmidt’s Naturals) and Jonah Hill have all championed a similarly dirty style, but with Malone, it’s different. He’s the only guy who actually teamed up with the brand he likes to design what he wants to wear, thereby making his style stance not only known, but also profitable.

All this begs the question: Can Post Malone get you to sport his Crocs design? Whatever you think about his profusion of face tattoos, gold grills and seemingly unwashed hair, do you think he’s onto something with his affection for the brand originally worn by nurses and gardeners, or do you think you’ll pass and see what the rapper comes up with next?
