Outfit Details:
Barbour Jacket (old, similar here), Rag & Bone Jeans, APL Sneakers

I’m a pretty simple guy and my personal aesthetic remains consistent from year to year. While I’m not into the Steve Jobs uniform look, I do have a handful of items that I wear constantly. In fact, after years of refining my closet, I rarely acquire anything completely new; if I’m buying something, it’s probably a replacement. If I do splurge on a new item, it will be for a classic, high-quality piece that makes the price-per-wear less expensive than any disposable, fast-fashion item. As part of a New Year’s clean out, I’m working on replacing some of the go-to items in my closet. After wearing my Common Projects sneakers so many times, they were starting to look like Golden Goose sneakers, but Julia just got me a new pair for Christmas. Next on my list is a new pair of Rag and Bone jeans, since the five-year-old pair that I reach for multiple times per week has holes in both the knees. Here are a few more of the items that spend more time on me or in the dirty clothes pile than they do sitting in my closet.

Velvet Loafers

I was a little hesitant about velvet loafers at first, but now, I almost never attend a special event in any other type of footwear. I usually opt for this tan pair or this navy pair to add just the right dose of personality to any dressed-up look.

Blue Dress Pants

If I’m getting dressed up (for an occasion that doesn’t call for formalwear), chances are, I’m wearing these blue NN07 pants. They always look crisp and classic, and pair well with anything. I also love these and these from the same brand.

Blue Casual Pants

These blue Octobre Editions pants combine a classic look with an extra-comfortable fit, so they’ve been a staple of my wardrobe since the moment they arrived on my doorstep. For other casual pants styles that aren’t jeans, I also like these and these.

Camel Sweater

This camel pullover sweater from Octobre Editions is one of my favorite pieces to wear throughout the colder months, especially since I can often wear it without a coat during our mild Charleston winters. This and this have similar looks.

Oxford Shirt

A white oxford is such a menswear staple, taking the time to find the ideal cut and fit is well worth it. For me, this shirt ended my search and became my go-to. If the Mr. P style isn’t perfect for you, this Thomas Pink one is similar.

Slim Jeans

Now that I have literally worn through my favorite Rag & Bone jeans, I’ll be picking up this pair to replace them. The slim fit and medium wash are timeless, so I hope to go another five years before needing a new pair. I also considered these and these.

Athletic Sneakers

From photo shoot days to neighborhood walks, I reach for these sneakers anytime I’ll be on my feet for a long time. For comfortable and casual styles that aren’t gym sneakers, both Julia and I are big fans of APL and Allbirds.

Barbour Coat

As you may have read in this post or this post, Julia and I share an affinity for Barbour’s high quality and classic design. I’ve been living in this coat this season, but also own and love this waxed cotton one.

Fleece Pullover

If you’ve ever seen Julia’s Instagram Stories from our daily neighborhood walks, chances are you’ve seen me in my favorite Outdoor Voices fleece pullover. The men’s version is sold out, but this and this are similar, and the women’s version is still available here.

White Henley

White henleys are longtime staples for me since they look more polished than simple white tees, but have the same all-American feel. This slim-fit one, this waffle-knit one, and this cotton one are all great options.
