Rebel by Pete & Pedro – the best men's cologne or just another Creed Aventus clone?

Is it worth your hard earned cash?

In today's article – I give you my brutally honest review.

I know what you're thinking…. Rebel was made by Aaron Marino – a great friend of mine – so how can I be objective? Well here's the deal – he wanted to pay me for this interview but I refused. He's covering my costs but the money that would have gone to my company is being diverted to an amazing discount for you.

I want you guys to experience this fragrance at a good price because I know that buying whole bottles of this stuff online is a gamble. Click here to try Pete & Pedro's Rebel and get 25% off using code REAL25 at checkout – but be quick, this deal won't last forever!

Let's get started. How does Rebel look?

1. Pete & Pedro's Rebel Cologne – Presentation

The first thing you'll see is a simple, well-designed packaging: Black with contrasting gold text featuring the name of the fragrance and its house of origin (Pete & Pedro).

The bottle itself is equally minimalistic – square with the name and house on the front in black font.

It's simple, elegant and oozes quality.

Rating: 8/10

Let's move on to what's most important. How does it smell?

We'll start with the Top notes, move on to the Heart and finish with Base notes.

2. Pete & Pedro's Rebel Cologne – Top Notes

Right out of the gate, we're hit with citrusy bergamot, alongside a hint of pineapple.

It's a powerful initial smell – one that is eerily similar to Aventus.

Once you get past the bergamot, the pineapple is hard to trace. What's more, it's totally missing that smoky note you'd expect from something trying to copy Creed.

When it comes to first impressions, Pete & Pedro's Rebel hits you with a blast of citrusy scents that will remind you of other fragrances but it does stand on its own.

It's a safe place to experiment if you already love Aventus.

Rating: 8/10

Rebel is an EDP (Eau de Parfum) – meaning it should last for about 5-8 hours.

3. Pete &  Pedro's Rebel Cologne – Heart Notes

Aptly named, the heart notes are what make up a fragrance's second layer. It's the core of any men's cologne, and it is where Rebel comes into its own. We're treated to some thyme, sage, and lingering nutmeg.

This marks Rebel as an aromatic fragrance – a fragrance type that relies mainly on grassy and spicy scents.

Rating: 7/10

4. Pete &  Pedro's Rebel Cologne – Base Notes

The Drydown (the base notes) make up the very last layer in a fragrance. The molecules here are the densest, hence their longevity. At the base, Rebel brings us to some traditionally masculine smells. We get oakmoss, woody amber, and patchouli.

The patchouli itself is rather faint – but discernible if you have a keen nose.

There's also a moderate musk at the end.

This is ideal for men who don't care for the animalistic scents.

oakmoss fragrance

Oakmoss dominates the tail end of this fragrance.

In short, the base notes take us to familiar scents we'd expect to see in men's colognes – but with a twist.

The musk is downplayed in favor of the arguably more appealing Oakmoss and amber.

Rating: 9/10

5. Pete &  Pedro's Rebel Cologne – Longevity And Projection

This is where Pete & Pedro's Rebel hits a snag.

It takes only 45 minutes to an hour to bring out the base notes.

Once you hit the 4-6 hour mark with Rebel, it's barely there.

Compare this to your typical EDP which will last about 5-8 hours

What you're left with is a skin fragrance – something that no one but you will catch on to.

Mind you, this may not be a bad thing if you're conscious about overwhelming people.

It may not be ideal for those of you who favor a more persevering fragrance.

Rating: 4/10 (sorry Aaron!)

6. Pete &  Pedro's Rebel Cologne – Price

The most common criticism I've heard regarding Pete & Pedro's Rebel is about the cost.

A lot of guys think that the asking price of $45 is a little much for 50 ml.

In fact, this is why I wanted to get you guys the 25% discount.

If your goal is to find a simple Aventus clone, then skip this fragrance.

There are plenty of clones out there for the same size that sell for much cheaper than $45.

MontBlanc Explorer is a prime example – the same size for just over $41. Zara Vibrant Leather sells 120 ml bottles for a little over $20!

Rating: 5/10

7. The Verdict – Should You Buy Pete & Pedro's Rebel Cologne?

The big question, though: Is it worth it on its own?

If you want to try out something new, then yes – go for it.

Rebel is a scent that brings something unique to the table. Like any piece of art, it takes inspiration from elsewhere and reformulates itself into something truly unique. I'm proud to support it.

Overall Rating: 8/10

Aaron's first fragrance was inspired by one of the greats but it stands alone as a worthy debut into the daunting world of men's colognes.

If you haven't given it a try yet, then what are you waiting for!?
