While most of us are stuck at home for the unforeseeable future, we shouldn’t have to sacrifice treating ourselves to a little facial.
Last week I was given a unique “virtual” at home facial which ended up being almost as good as the real thing!
My friends at Chanel sent me a beauty bag full of fun new products {more on that later} to try out and set up a consultation with their skin health expert, Melanie Grant. Melanie offered simple step-by-step instructions and demonstrated how a few small techniques can make a big difference for not only your skin, but overall wellbeing. Here are a few top tips I learned from the Chanel team on how to DIY my facial at home.
Start With A Clean Face
Don't just wash your face once, try two or three times to make sure your skin is nice and clean. Using a device such as a Foreo can be very effective. You'll want to use this opportunity to thoroughly exfoliate your skin. We used this exfoliation lotion by Chanel along with cotton swabs to thoroughly buff out the skin.
Massage
Following the cleanse and exfoliation, Melanie walked us through a face massage that includes upward strokes using your ring finger and middle finger. You use these fingers because they apply less pressure and you don't want to be too rough on your skin. Start with your neck and work upwards. We used my new favorite face oil by Chanel for this. Be sure to use plenty of product so your skin doesn't snag while you massage.
Mask It
If you are going to do a face mask at home, now is the time {before you moisturize}. I especially love this repair mask. It's very rich and offers ample hydration if your skin is feeling parched. Leave the mask on for 10 minutes and rinse off with warm water.
Steam It
If you have an at home steamer, this is the time to crank that baby up. I absolutely love my steamer by Dr. Dennis Gross. You can also heat up the shower and get some steam going for a quick steam session.
Moisturize
Lastly, apply any serums followed by your eye cream. I absolutely LOVE the new eye cream I tested out by Chanel and was also introduced to their incredible moisturizer. I cannot believe it's taken me so long to try it.
The most important element to giving yourself a stellar DIY facial at home is to really set the tone for relaxation. Light up some candles and put on some relaxing music. Perhaps you can carve out some time to draw yourself a bath and pour a glass of wine.
Through these crazy times that we find ourselves in, it is incredibly important to make time to take care of yourself. Even if it’s 20-30 minutes of pampering yourself with a DIY facial at home, the rewards will carry you for weeks to come!
What are you doing to take care of yourself at home?

Did someone say house dress?
You know that’s my summer jam. These days, there’s nothing quite like feeling put together with minimal effort.
And that right there is faint-worthy.

Let’s talk hair. I know good hair tools can be an investment, but these T3 Hair Dryer and Brush Set are worth the money.
My re-stock essentials include the sets above from Oribe (hello, Texture Spray!), Ouai, and Olaplex.
More hair favorites:
I was so excited to see that some of my favorite skincare products (including the La Mer Renewal Oil) are in some awesome sets, like this one and this one for a great price.
The best part about sets like these is that you get to try out new products in smaller sizes, still get the product(s) you love, and save money at the end of the day.
When it comes to body care, you know I’m grabbing some Nécessaire Body Wash & Lotion. It’s a family favorite!
Since we’ll all be wearing face masks for the foreseeable future, it’s the perfect excuse to perfect your eye look. This Tom Ford eye-shadow quad, one of my favorite brow pencils, and some show stopping mascara create an easy look in no time flat.

Cozy Cardigans
A good quality cardigan can get pricey pretty quickly, which is why I would recommend picking up a classic piece you can wear over and over again when they’re on sale. This fall I’m loving quilted coats and cozy cardigans.
Quilted Loveliness
For fall I am all about a a quilted jacket and below are a few favorites on sale. I also just discovered this Barbour one which is my favorite for outerwear. I also love, love, love this plaid coat by Theory.
Super Sneakers
I don’t know about you but I’ve been loving and living in my sneakers lately. This pair by Vejas that I love are on sale! Maybe it’s been all my time on the lake this summer, but I’m having a whole new appreciation for utility shoes- think lace-up-boots and comfy yet chic tennis shoes, like the Vejas I’m wearing in the photo below.
Fall Florals
I know it’s depressing to think that fall is knocking at the door but I for one am really excited for a change of season in more ways than one! When August hits I always look for darker floral colored dresses that will make the transition from summer to fall feel easy. All you need is a jacket or extra layer and your new floral print will transition well.
Sweater Weather
Even though August just started, I’m already thinking of throwing on a cozy sweater… just me? Sometimes you just need to cozy up and listen to the new Taylor Swift album.

The Beauty Product I Never Knew I Needed Until Now
August 03, 2020DMT BeautyI was getting really tired of messing up my pretty Boll & Branch wash cloths.
So, I finally took the plunge and purchased some black wash cloths to use for make-up removal and it’s been one of my best purchases of 2020. I cannot even begin to tell you what a positive difference it’s made for my routine! I no longer dread washing my face and feel like I can really scrub and get in there!
They come in a pack of 5 and the brands sustainable approach to beauty is a home run in my book!

I went a little ham on my Amazon orders in July.
Maybe it’s because I have officially started my partnership with Amazon this year. But let’s be honest, I’m just obsessed with ordering things off of Amazon. They arrive so damn quickly and it is so much easier to order here versus anywhere else.
But don’t get me wrong, not all of my purchases this month were success stories.
Just like not all of my posts about Amazon are #Sponsored. (This post isn’t part of my partnership with Amazon). As a true fan, I feel confident that I can provide both positive and negative feedback about the items I’m ordering from month to month. Because in reality, not everything we order online ends up being the best idea.
Scroll down to see the good, the bad and the best items I scored from Amazon in July.
Perfect Peplum Blouse
I am all sorts of excited about this new top I scored this month. I’m wearing in the feature image. It’s price friendly and fits like a charm. You can even sneak in an extra cheeseburger this summer because it’s perfectly loose.
Plush Fleece House Slippers
I have seen these house slippers on countless bloggers accounts so I quickly ordered them. They’re only $24 and I was honestly looking so forward to posting about them to you guys, sharing my new score. Sadly, they just aren’t hitting a sweet spot for me. The sole feels a little too heavy and I’m honestly afraid I might twist my ankle when I wear them.
More Pajamas for June
These are hands down our favorite cozy pj’s for June to sleep in. They’re just so easy to get over her head and she has them in every color. I just ordered more because she’s growing like a bean stalk. Click here for all full list of the clothes I order for June off Amazon.
Dyson A/C and Heater Combo
I have a love hate with this product. I was really hoping it would work more as a proper AC unit, but in order for units to truly cool off a room, they need access to the outside. However, after I ordered and set up this Dyson, even after realizing it mainly circulates cool air, I’ve decided to keep it. It’s so sleek and works quietly. The heating works amazingly well so I think it will come in super handy during the winter months when I’m trying to keep my office studio warm.
A New Baby Monitor
I don’t know why every parent under the sun insists on using the crappy Infant Optics monitor (hand raised). We finally switched to this new monitor this month and it works so much better! I tape the top lights on mine with black out painters tape so they don’t keep me up at night.
Tinted Moisturizer
I had heard great things about this tinted moisturizer and thought I’d give it a go. I love it! It’s super duper light and perfect for summer.
More Slouchy Socks
I ordered a few last month and loved them so much that I ordered even more. I wear these non-stop around the house. They have a perfectly slouchy fit.
White Bags for the Win
I restock on these white bags about every 3-6 months. I use them for everything! Have a few things to donate to charity? White bag it. Have a last minute gift you need to wrap? White bag it. Have some groceries you need to take over to mom’s house? White bag it. We use these white bags so often!
What You “Need”
I have officially eight of these woven floor cushions. My goal was to get enough for an outdoor al fresco dinner party outside. I sometimes stack them to use as an outdoor table too. I simply cannot get enough of these floor cushions. We use them in June’s playroom too. They’re super versatile.
Currently In My Cart
A few more things that are in my cart to purchase: Short T-Shirt Dress in a new color + Green Floral Slip Dress

Just Some Great Brands You Might Not Have Heard of (Yet)
July 31, 2020DMT BeautyIf you clicked onto this post, chances are you love shopping just as much as I do.
Well, welcome! While scrolling through Instagram, or even browsing through Net-A-Porter and Shopbop, I always find myself discovering some really amazing brands- and I wanted to share a few of my recent favorites. Even while putting this list together, I ordered a few things… can you blame me?
Jade Swim
Jade Swim has quickly become a beach/lake/pool staple for me. This Black-owned swimwear line is incredible quality, absolutely beautiful, and they’ve got styles that work for everyone.
JW Pei
Fashion forward, affordable, LA based, made with fabric made from recycled plastic bottles… need I say more? Meet JW Pei. The above image from their Spring/Summer collection had me in love. I also may or may not have picked up this beauty. Oops.
Tove
I’ve had a few Tove dresses on my wish-list for a while now. This gorgeous Black co-owned London based brand, has designed clothes that are as luxe as they are wearable.
BITE Studios
Sustainable fashion meets luxury. BITE Studios uses natural organic fibers, recycled and low-impact fabrics complete with environmental and social certifications. Not to mention all of their pieces are gorgeous.
Cekette
I found Cekette on Instagram and instantly fell in love. This unisex outerwear brand out of Turkey has some of the most interesting cuts and textile combos I’ve seen.
Angie Bauer
Made in LA, Angie Bauer is a sustainable brand with some gorgeous timeless pieces, like these shorts I just ordered! Plus, a portion of their item sales are donated to the American Civil Liberties Union and to the International Rescue Committee on a monthly basis.
Khaite
Two words: cashmere bra. These elevated classics should be a staple in every woman’s wardrobe. Dresses, knits, denim, leather goods… Khaite has it all.
Cushnie
Black owned fashion brand Cushnie has been making waves recently for all the right reasons, and I’ve been a fan for ages! All of their pieces have beautiful clean silhouettes, staple separates, and are chic all around.
Wilt
If you’re looking for easy tees and t-shirt dresses than the LA based Wilt is absolutely the answer. I’ve already got this dress in my cart!

It’s safe to say that summer feels a bit different this year.
While we may not be finding ourselves jet-setting around the world to beautiful destinations, it doesn’t mean we cannot still enjoy the more simple side to what summer has to offer. After all, the ease up off of your travel budget just might free up some space to splurge in the wardrobe department.
When it comes to my summer style this year, I’m keeping things super simple and laid back. Most of my weekends involve lounging in the back yard along with a few road trips to the lake. I’m all about comfort and ease this summer which is why I’m excited to share a few favorite items with you that I can’t get enough of.
A Good Basic Tee
I absolutely love Amo’s Babe Tees. I’ve been rocking them for the past year and they’re my favorite because they’re slightly cropped but not too cropped. I love slightly tucking in my t-shirts in the front and the babe tee hits in a sweet spot to be able to do this. I have this t-shirt in white too and just recently purchased the tank version.
Mini Bags
Gone are the days of stomping around the city or hopping around town all day running errands. I can’t say that I miss it too much. But I also still need a cute little bag this summer for quick outings and store runs. I recently fell in love with a new line called Vasic and purchased this little bucket bag. I love being able to grab my wallet, mask, and hand sanitizer quickly. I also really love this affordable cross body bag which can leave you hands free for grocery shopping and this adorable white bag by Acne. White bags during the summer some how match with everything!
Bond Mini Bag
I'm already so obsessed with my new bag. It holds a ton but still pulls off that mini look.
Shop NowTan Summer Slides
I’m constantly getting questions about what my favorite summer sandals are and to be honest, I’m constantly on the hunt for the best pair. I’m happy to report that I’ve found a winner! These new beauties by Staud are going to be worn a lot this summer! They are just dressy enough to be able to wear to dinner al fresco or dressed down to the beach. I am obsessed with how comfortable they are!
Lei Slides
These super sweet slides are extremely comfortable and match with everything in my summer wardrobe!
Shop NowA Flirty Top
One of the fundamental elements that I think everyone should have in their closet is a girlie top for summer. Whether it’s all lace, puffy sleeves or a flirty ruffle collar, I just love the look of a girlie top with denim. It’s a nice mix of feminine meets rough around the edges and it’s a style you can wear all summer long.
Marina Flutter Sleeve Top
Sea is one of my favorite brands. The quality of their clothing is next level and the pieces will be staples in your closet forever.
Shop NowBoyfriend Denim
I like to call it boyfriend denim vs. “Mom Jeans.” This high waisted style is very popular and can be a bit difficult to pull off. I think the trick is all about the fit. I was very nervous to order denim online but truly loved the way these Moussy Vintage jeans fit. They have quickly become a favorite and if you follow me on Instagram you’ve probably spotted me wearing them constantly.
MV Hinsdale Boy Skinny Jeans
I'm a new fan to Moussy Vintage denim. The fit is very true to size.
Shop NowSweet Shades
Every summer I like to purchased a fun pair of sunnies to rock by the pool and at the beach. It gets me in the summer spirit. Last year I rocked my white shades, but this year is all about these caramel sunnies I scored by Le Specs. The price makes me happy and every time I put them on I feel happy.
This post was created in partnership with Shopbop, however all thoughts and opinions remain my own.

My skin over the past several months has been feeling super dull.
I don’t know if it’s just the summer sun or perhaps the stress from the world, but I invested in a few new beauty products and wanted to post about Klur because I’ve quickly grown to love this brand. I’ve been using the Stellar Restoration for a few weeks and honestly see the biggest difference.
Any time I’m testing out a new product, I make sure to only change that one thing about my skincare regime so I can see if it really makes a difference. All I know is that I’ve been wearing a lot less make-up lately because my skin feels more even toned.
How to Use:
Gently pat 3-4 drops to clean, dry skin. Allow for complete absorption. Follow with a moisturizer. Use SPF daily. For PM use only. Do not exceed three nights per week. Best suited for hormonal, blemish-prone, easily congested skin types.
I also love that this product is sustainably manufactured in the United States of America
