Alright, let's get started.
1. Set A Higher Standard For Your Uniform
What is a uniform? The Cambridge dictionary defines it as a type of clothing connected with specific groups of people.
It's much more than that, though. A uniform is a personal brand, the combination of clothing and accessories that people associate with you.
You need to establish a high standard for that uniform. Make it so no matter what, your daily outfit is at an elevated level of men's style – this could mean ditching the cargo shorts and Ecko shirt in favor of some fitted jeans and a dress shirt.
2. Wait Two Weeks Between Haircuts
I always stress regimenting your style routine, and haircuts are something I've mentioned before. Two weeks is a solid middle ground because it's at a time where your hair is starting to grow back but isn't quite unruly yet.
If you stick to this, then no one will ever catch you looking even slightly off your game. When it comes to looking rich, a simple haircut goes a long way.
3. Daily Facial Grooming For Men
If you're neglecting skincare, you're making a grave mistake. It's easy to put off – you don't see results right away, and it takes time out of your day.
At the same time though, a regimented skincare routine can make a huge difference in your appearance over the course of a couple of months. Your face will look rejuvenated and you'll have substantially less acne. All this in conjunction makes you look more like a movie star!
4. Don't Let Wrinkles Show
Few things make a man look sloppy more so than a wrinkled shirt. A wonderfully efficient way to look rich is therefore not to allow for them.
No one likes ironing – it's boring and tedious (though you should still do it), but there are preventative steps you can take to ensure no wrinklers crop up.
Make sure you store your clothing neatly. You should always store a garment as soon as you take it off. Leaving clothes over your chair will leave indentations that can easily be avoided.
When it comes to trousers, don't pull them up while you sit down – it's a common habit. Yes, it might be slightly less comfortable, but you'll thank me when you don't need to break the iron out.
5. Men's Watches – Get One
When it comes to sending a clear message of power and style, nothing matches a quality watch. Even if you have just one, people will remember you better for it.
You don't want to go spending a lot of money, but strongly consider a firm investment in this area – the service a watch can do you is not to be underestimated.
In addition to looking badass, a watch is…
- Timeless.
- Convenient.
- A tool to keep you from your phone.
- Something women WILL notice.
Trust me, watches have stood the test of time for good reason (see what I did there?).
6. Prioritize Shoe Quality
Even if you're not a millionaire, you should think about spending a decent amount of cash on a solid pair of dress shoes or boots. Like watches, they draw attention that can make or break a first impression.
Buying cheap shoes not only look bad, but they'll break sooner rather than later. Before you know it, you ended up paying for more than a great pair would have cost you.
7. Practice Proper Shoe Care
Ok, so you got the great shoes – nice. Now it's time to care for them.
Quality leather will last you a lifetime, but you need to care for them correctly. A carefully shined pair of dress shoes make a man look nothing short of badass. I won't go into it here, but you can check out my guide to shoe-shining and get a feel for it.
8. Invest In Some Outerwear
Jackets are not only practical tools to protect you from the elements, but they are also powerful style pieces.
Whether it be a sport coat or a casual bomber, the right jacket will speak volumes about your uniform and personal style – foremost being that you care about looking good.
Furthermore, jackets can really help in emphasizing the best parts of your body. Pockets will really bring out your chest while texturing on the shoulders will bring those out too.
9. Watch Out for Natural Fabrics
In looking rich, manmade fabrics won't do the trick. Don't get me wrong, they can serve a great purpose – but if you need to pick and choose on a limited budget, nothing compares to natural plant and animal fibers.
When it comes to fabric – and everything else – shoot for quality over quantity.
If you're in a hot climate, look for linen – the oldest fiber known to man. Hunt down 100% cotton. For casual sport coats, try your luck at wool.
You'll rest easy knowing everything you own is top-notch.
10. Embrace Your Signature Scent
Finally, we have men's colognes. There's so much complexity and choice when it comes to fragrance, I couldn't possibly do it justice in one section.
Just know that there are hundreds of quality fragrances that fall well within a frugal person's budget – you're bound to find one you like.
Summary
- Set A High Standard For Your Uniform.
- Head To The Barber Every Two Weeks.
- Practice Skin Care.
- Don't Let Wrinkles Show.
- Buy One Quality Men's Watch.
- Prioritize Shoe Quality.
- Then Take Care Of Those Shoes!
- Invest In Outerwear.
- Buy Natural Fabrics.

The theme today has been quality over quantity. It doesn't matter if you don't own a lot – just so long as you love what you do have. That alone counts for everything in a stylish foundation.

My Favorite Fall Skirts (And How To Style Them)
September 17, 2019DMT.NEWSOne of the main reasons I love dresses is their effortlessness. There’s simply no easier way to achieve a polished, feminine look than slipping into a dress and a favorite pair of shoes. It’s ironic, then, that I’ve realized I love skirts for the exact opposite reason. I reach for skirts on days when I want a little bit more of a challenge–the chance to pair colors and textures, play with proportions, and experiment until I land on a combination that resonates with me. On mornings when I have a little bit of extra time, putting together an outfit with a skirt gives me a boost of creativity that I then carry with me through the day.
My favorite skirt styles this fall are midis, since the length flatters every body type and always looks elegant. I’ve found so many beautiful new options in a wide variety of colors and fabrics, from this blush silk slip skirt, to this plaid pleated skirt, to this whimsical tiered ruffle skirt. I have worn midi skirts with heels, loafers, and even sneakers to create outfits that range from dressy to casual, but my favorite pairing is to wear them with boots. Especially if you live in a place that gets cold early, boots are the best way to feel comfortable wearing skirts (or dresses) all through the fall. Once we get into November and December, I often wear midi skirts with tall boots, and then layer tights or leggings underneath to stay warm without changing my look.
Whether midi or mini, I like to have a variety of both solid and patterned skirts on hand for every season. Patterned pieces (I love this muted floral, this crisp gingham, and this traditional tartan) pair perfectly with my favorite sweaters. I especially can’t wait to wear our new Gal Meets Glam Collection Marguerite sweater with skirts this fall; it’s our first pullover-style sweater. Since it has a classic shape with memorable details, it lends itself to a wide variety of styling options. Solid-colored skirts, especially in luxurious fabrics like silk and suede, look best in a dimensional, layered look. Try a white tee and a tweed jacket (like our Gal Meets Glam Collection Ramona Jacket that launched recently), a turtleneck and a patterned coat, or a sweater and a silk scarf (like our new Carlene Scarf or Ashlynn Scarf). From patterns to solids and minis to maxis, find all of the new skirts I have my eye on below.
Silk Slip Skirt
I’ve found silk slip midi skirts in many colors this season, but especially love this inky midnight blue version for fall. It’s easy to dress this style up or down—try it with a tee tucked in and a cardigan over your shoulders.
Knit Midi Skirt
This knit midi skirt boasts a luxe look for a Gal On a Budget-approved price point. It would look gorgeous paired with a turtleneck and tall boots on chilly days.
Plaid Skirt
Classic Black Watch tartan and an elegant A-line shape make this plaid midi skirt incredibly versatile. I’d wear it with a sweater during the day and change into a romantic blouse for evenings, especially as we get closer to the holidays.

Gronk Talks Concussions & Cannabis
September 17, 2019DMT.NEWSRob Gronkowski Discusses the Number of Concussions Hes Had
Rob Gronkowski aka “Gronk” as he was affectionately known by fans and teammates alike, was one of the most dominant tight ends in recent memory. The imposing, six-foot-six former Patriots player has collected three Super Bowl rings over a storied career, and also managed to snag former cheerleader (and current Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model) Camille Kostek along the way. However, he’s also managed to collect something else during his lengthy football career: concussions.

In an interview with CBS News, the retired champion football star admitted that he had suffered, by his estimate, “like 20 concussions” over the course of his playing days. He also elaborated as to whether or not he'd allow his hypothetical son hit the gridiron someday.
"I would let my son play football, but I would educate him on the game and educate him on what I went through, and I truly believe that any injury that you receive is fixable,” Gronkowski said. “I went through and had nine surgeries. I probably had like 20 concussions in my life. I remember five blackout ones.”
The tight end's comments about his many concussions come alongside an increasingly heated debate about brain injury related to the wider game of American football. Multiple studies have emerged in recent years pointing to a strong correlation between prolonged stints of play in professional football and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (or CTE), a form of degenerative brain damage. All scientific or medical terminology aside, the facts seem to be piling up to support a safer style of play in the NFL — and in the leagues which feed into it.
So far, fans seem to be divided on the subject. Beyond that, even some of the NFL pros themselves think the game is getting a bit too watered down, per the SF Chronicle. San Francisco 49ers player Richard Sherman didn't mince words when it came time to deliver his verdict on the recent rule changes.
“You come to play football, you come to watch a football game, you understand as a player and as a fan that there are certain risks involved in it,” Sherman said. “And I think the league is trying to supersede those risks.”
Moving on to joke a bit about perhaps returning to play as a nimble position player such as a safety, Gronk didn't exactly rule out a return to the sport. Despite a laundry list of former injuries, the veteran was a bit cagey when speaking about a potential return to the Patriots' roster.
One thing that Gronk made crystal clear, however, was his full endorsement of CBD — a cannabis derivative which comes in many forms, including sprays, oils, topical creams, and tinctures for treating injury.
“I’m advocating for CBD to be acceptable for all players for recovery ... You can just call me Mr. Recovery. You know you like that name. Mr. Recovery, baby,” he said.
Gronk believes in the healing power of the herb so deeply that he has partnered with Toronto-based company Abacus Health in order to reach a broader base of distribution. At the end of the day, it seems that Mr. Recovery is interested in his own long-term health prospects as well as those of his former colleagues in the NFL.
