Petition for Joe Rogan to Moderate 2020 Presidential Debates

Yes, you read that correctly: there is currently a big push to have mixed-martial arts personality (and world-famous podcast host) Joe Rogan referee a 2020 presidential debate.

While it's still very much up in the air who President Donald Trump will have to square off against during the long campaign season, having Joe Rogan moderate the debate doesn't seem so crazy after all when you consider his lengthy — and relevant — resume.

First of all, Joe Rogan is a man used to the violence and pressure of one-on-one combat, whether that struggle takes place mentally or physically. He’s also known to host personalities of all political persuasions on “The Joe Rogan Experience.”

Most importantly, Rogan is widely perceived to be impartial and non-partisan in his views. And now, a Change.org petition calling for him to be instituted as the moderator of the 2020 presidential debates is picking up some serious steam.

Currently boasting more than 120,000 signatures as of this writing, against a target goal of 150,000 names, it looks like a lot of people want Rogan in the moderator's chair for the hotly anticipated debate. The language surrounding the proposition is glowing but not altogether inaccurate, laying out the case for why Joe Rogan is the perfect man for the job in three concise points.

The first two describe his hosting experience and a cross-section of his interviews to point out the breadth of his interests and open-mindedness. The final point sums it all up while describing his significant reach and appeal.

“3. Joe Rogan has an audience containing viewers from all areas of the political spectrum. Joe Rogan is not registered under any political party and is well-known for having civil, productive and interesting conversations about political issues without partisan bias.”

It should be noted that not everyone is happy, as some people have pointed out Rogan's proclivity to also visit with people who have distasteful views such as Jordan Peterson and InfoWars’ Alex Jones.

While it seems like a pretty far-out idea, there may be a grain of honest support in the petition. So, we probably can’t completely rule out the chances of Rogan being a part of this year's debates. However, if you're a betting man, it might be a good idea to keep your money in your pocket — at least for now.
