Stripchat Adult Cam Site Offering Free Therapy Sessions

Cam sites are all the rage and have been for a number of years now. But most people’s familiarity with cam sites hinge on various types of porn and the negative stigma associated with adult content comes attached at the hip. Stripchat’s new (and free) therapy sessions aim to help with that and move to embrace sex-positivity and increased sexual expression.

The therapy sessions include a series of lectures and interactive events. According to Stripchat’s data, nearly half of all cam watchers have experienced at least some anxiety about their viewership habits, and 11 percent of its audience admitted to “frequent or constant anxiety” over their habit, and Stripchat has decided to do something about it.

Partnering with the Sexual Health Alliance in order to deliver interactive talks from leading sex researchers, relationship experts, and clinical psychologists to the platform, Stripchat is holding the banner high for a new paradigm in how we, as a society, view porn — and those who enjoy watching it.

Max Bennet, vice president of Stripchat shared his reasons for this bold move. “At a time when there are so many attacks on sex and sexuality, Stripchat saw a chance to be a leader in conversations about sex and sexuality. After surveying our members, we found that many of the people who were coming to our site were suffering from feelings of shame or anxiety,” Bennet said to Ask Men. “They were worried that they were masturbating too much, or that it was a sin, or that was somehow bad for their health. Despite the wide amount of adult entertainment online, there's so misinformation about sex that has no basis in science.”

For many people, there are several positive aspects brought on by cam sites and their associated technology. Many couples partake in cam sites together, as viewers or performers, and are able to share their love and sexual desires together in this way. Further, those who are hypersexual in nature may be able to relieve some of their tensions when otherwise unable to, according to Dr. David Ley of the Sexual Health Alliance. Dr. Ley took to the podium on August 1 — via Stripchat — to dispel some myths about cam sites (and pornography in general).

Taking a rather progressive stance on sexual culture and how people judge those who consume cam site material, Dr. Ley promised to be a force for change.

“Webcam users have been left out of most research and therapy. Non-shaming support and education is nonexistent,” Ley said on the site. “This needs to change, and this is how it starts.”

With streaming content on the rise and Stripchat being joined by fellow porn purveyors such as Chaturbate as well as by industry giants such as Twitch this sort of thinking could be a major boon to those who dwell within the fringes of digital culture (and helpful to anyone trying to manage audience shame).

“I want Stripchat to be a place where people come not only to get off, but also to have a better relationship with their sexuality. It's 2019 — two decades into the adult internet!” Bennet said. “How has this not been done before? We need to be more responsible partners for the men and women who come to us. For us, this is the start of a new generation of adult entertainment."
