Never Have I Ever: Done Sex Magic

Did you ever play “Never Have I Ever” in college? Regardless of what’s going on below the belt, anyone can cast spells when they cum. Sex magic, popularized by Aleister Crowley, a bad-boy English occultist with a checkered past, is simply the practice of using your orgasm to cast spells. As recent interest in sex magic has risen in conjunction with a general curiosity for witchcraft, many are looking to answer the obvious: How do you cast spells when you cum? 

To try and answer that, we spoke to Rachel, a 35-year-old queer witch from Brooklyn, about her recent experience trying this special form of magic for the first time.

AskMen: How did you learn about sex magic?

Rachel: I’m sure I just heard it from the internet or in one of my books on witchcraft ... I honestly don’t remember. It’s a bit of a hot topic these days. But I know the words stuck with me enough to learn how to do it. As it turned out, I was already doing sex magic. It came to me intuitively. I just didn’t have a name for it. 

How do you do sex magic?

Arousal builds energy, right? And orgasms are a climax? Imagine if all that energy was directed towards an intention, and at the moment of orgasm, it was launched towards that goal. That’s sex magic. You think about something you want, say more money at work, while you cum. Sex magic! 

You can use it for more money?

Yes, you can use it for anything. Your intention doesn’t have to be sex-related. You’re just using sexual energy. 

I know you mentioned that masturbation works best when doing sex magic. Why is that?

For me, honestly, it’s just easier. My girlfriend would distract me. Plus, she doesn’t really believe in this stuff, so she’d kill my magical vibe. You can do sex magic with a person iif you decide upon a mutual goal and actively have sex-magic sex, but it gets a little tricky when you involve others. 

If you do it and don’t tell them, it gets into ethical witch grey area. Are you involving others in ceremonies they don’t believe in without their knowledge? Are you using them or bending their will? Personally, I just do sex magic alone while I masturbate. 

Using masturbation as a way to get what you want sounds amazing, but is it easy to get off if you’re thinking about something like work?

I’m sure that traditions and more experienced witches have different rules, but I totally think about other sexy stuff. I will usually keep the intention in the back of my head with a prepared visualization of my intention coming to fruition. To get to orgasm, I think about dirty graphic sex acts that do it for me. But as I cum, I think of my intention and accompanied visualization. 

Has it worked? Did you get more money?

Ha! I don’t know yet, I just tried it. Ask me again in a month at the next full moon. I have a good feeling. 

What is it about full moons that makes them so special?

Full moons are considered ripe times for manifestation, plus they bring out our animal instincts. They’re the best time of the month to do sex magic.
