  5. They Are Immovable.

1. No Obstacles… Only Challenges

Notice how I keep using the word “challenge” rather than “obstacle.” The reason for it is that the former has a negative connotation – it sounds more like a hindrance and weakness.

Challenges are all about strength and power – a challenge is something you undertake to make you stronger. Think about Heracles – he was immortalized by his legendary twelve labors. We don't venerate him because he had an easy life, but because of the feats he achieved.

Heracles serves as a timeless example of how men can overcome everyday challenges. You might not be fighting a Hydra, but it still counts.

See setbacks as challenges to be conquered, and know you'll be stronger for it in the end.

2. They Better Themselves Constantly

How did Rome conquer the Mediterranean?

How did Alexander lead an army from Greece to India?

Constant evolution.

The world is constantly changing, and you need to evolve with it – that's what great men did throughout history. How do you do this? By reading the right books and training your body. Sharpen your mind by taking in as much knowledge as you can while honing your core.

Only then can you adapt to those challenges mentioned earlier and deliver results.

3. They Dress Sharp – In Principle

Gents, you saw this coming. Sometimes, overcoming life challenges is all about looking sharp.

Here's the thing, though – it's more about the principle of looking good rather than the act itself. It's about pleasure. It's about self-respect. Most importantly – it's about self-sufficiency.

A well-dressed man sends a message of power and unbridled confidence to everyone he meets, no matter what the situation is. People will automatically perceive you as someone they need to know.

I can never hope to teach you effectively with an article, let alone one section. That's why I have hundreds of articles and videos for you to get started on the right path.

4. They See Life For What It Is (And Make It Better)

Idealism is great, but it can prove to be a major life challenge.

Every man wants things to be better – yeah, but how many grasp the reality?

Stop sitting around thinking about the Ferrari – you don't have it. Stop wasting endless hours wondering about that big house you want so badly. Instead, sit back and take stock of your situation.

man with stress levels

Use reality to kick your ass in the right direction – even if it hurts at first.

Do you live in a shabby apartment? Drive a jalopy? It sucks, but the sooner you sober up to your current circumstances, the quicker you can take controlled steps to fix it.

5. They Are Immovable… But Flexible

What do I mean when I say “immovable?”

It's not about being stubborn – on the contrary, that just makes everything worse.

I mean immovable principles. You need to have a steadfast set of morals and stick to them. Easier said than done, but necessary nonetheless.

stressed man

Being inflexible will only bring on more stress when the solution is just to work around life's unexpected twists and turns.

Flexibility is arguably a principle in and of itself. Life seldom goes according to plan – stuff happens, plans get canceled, projects change. The top 1% of men take this as it comes and bend with it – they bend, but they never break.

It's no surprise why flexibility is so sought after by employers.

6. Attention To Detail While Seeing The Big Picture

This is a balancing act. There's no job or situation where attention to detail is going to be unappreciated. However, it's all-too-easy to lose yourself in the minutia of the most menial tasks in order to achieve perfection.

Kudos to you! However, this habit can come at the cost of recognizing larger goals. Make sure to keep the bigger picture in mind as much as the smallest detail. Knowing both in tandem as well as acting on them will make you indispensable.

7. They Only Listen To The Right People

Everyone's a critic. No matter what you do, there will always be at least one person looking to put you down – Hell, you might have even been one of those people.

Just know one thing – they don't matter. Does this mean to screw everyone's advice? Absolutely not, considering that feedback is key to success.

You should only listen keenly to people you respect and take seriously – choose wisely.

Once again, it's about balance. What you need to do is keep a tight circle of friends, colleagues, and family members whom you trust. THOSE are the people you should listen to.

At work, such colleagues could include your boss and a few essential personnel that are just as effective as you. Outside work, you can use your girlfriend/wife and those three friends you grew up with – just to name a few examples!

8. Understand The Rules…

And know when to break them.

Rules are essential – they make the world go round, and they keep civilization from devolving into savagery.

The caveat is that rules were made by people, therefore they are flawed. I don't encourage you to be an office outlaw by any means – that can get you fired. However, if you find certain rules to be an unnecessary constraint on your efficiency – then screw them.

Sometimes, breaking a rule is just about challenging the dress code. You might be compelled to come into work in business-casual attire rather than the traditional navy suit. We're not talking extreme measures here, merely boundaries you can push to get noticed.

If you've been a good soldier up to that point, then your boss might stop and consider why the rule was there to begin with.

Worst-case scenario? You get a slap on the wrist.

9. They Say No… Or Hell Yeah

Another life challenge? Commitment.

You need to either make a full commitment or none at all. Believe it or not, you can apply this to every aspect of your life.

Say you're at a clothier looking for your next sport coat. You've determined that you're going to buy one within your budget. However, the one you fell in love with is a little beyond that range.

Hell yes or hell no… there's no in-between.

Are you going to settle for the “Ok” one that hits your price point, or push the envelope a little for something you adore?  I'll let you answer that for yourself.

Don't be afraid to own your time either. Do not be that guy that takes everything on and has no time for himself. If a business opportunity drastically cuts down on quality time with your wife, your children, and the hobbies that matter to you, then say NO.

10. They'd Rather Take Risks Than Stay Safe

Falling on your face hurts – hell, it'll sting. That pain is temporary, though. You took a leap, missed your mark, and got burned for it.

That's ok – at least you TOOK the leap. That in and of itself offers peace of mind.

handshake

Even if it doesn't work out, you gotta go out and make things happen.

It's infinitely preferable to the man who stays stagnant, forever stuck in an undesirable position because he never took his shot.

Summary – Life Challenges
