Worst Men's Hairstyle 1. Comb-Over
The dreaded comb-over occurs when men grow their hair long on one side before brushing it over a bald spot.
This shouldn't come as a surprise to most of you. The comb-over is as old as men being insecure. In fact, ancient writers have even chronicled titans such as Julius Caesar spending hours hiding his baldness.
Thank goodness that Colin Farell was simply acting.
Victorian gentlemen brushed their hair into awkward forward fringes to draw attention away from their shiny heads. It did just the opposite.
If you are one of the many men that suffer from baldness, embrace it – shave that head. There are several studies that indicate men with bare heads appear more dominant than others. Use it to your advantage.
Worst Men's Hairstyle 2. The Coach Cut / Flat-Top
The flat-top maintains a square shape over the top while keeping the sides short (sometimes shaved).
It spawned in the 1950s through conservative Middle America, army veterans, and NASA. From there, it spread like a plague.
We see this style taken to concerning extremes in the 1980s, where quiffs descended into a short crown. There were even men who wore narrow strips of gelled up, flat hair with shaved sides (yuck).
There were plenty of reasons to hate Drago – his hair was one of them.
Today, it's often associated with the overcompensating authority figure – like a cop just itching to give you a ticket, or a security guard with a bloated ego.

Worst Men's Hairstyle 3. Frosted Tips
Goodness, why? Frosted tips spread like a plague in the 1990s and early 2000s. It was a momentary lapse in fashion like many trends of the era.
Guy Fieri knows where flavor town is, but what about the nearest hair stylist?
Unfortunately, even celebrities (Guy Fieri, Aaron Carter, and Justin Timberlake) were or still are guilty of this dangerous style sin.
Worst Men's Hairstyle 4. The Emo Fringe
Contrary to popular belief, the so-called Emo Fringe evolved from the “scene” culture, not to be confused with the emo culture of the early 2000s.
The Emo Fringe takes effort just to look dated.
It not only makes you look juvenile, but it also makes you look like you popped right out of a poorly-written anime.
No matter who you are, you are too old for this hairstyle.
Worst Men's Hairstyle 5. Mullets
No surprise here – the mullet appears in almost every reference to the worst men's hairstyles.
This mullet didn't even work for Jean-Claude Van Damme.
It's no surprise as to why. The mullet features a short frontal section while transitioning into a longer style in the back.
Gents, you will look good with either long or short hair – not both. Make up your minds.
Worst Men's Hairstyle 6. Man-Buns
The bun has historical precedent. Chinese men put their hair in a bun as far back as the Ming Dynasty.
In the west, the bun was common among barbarians – the Vandals, Goths, and the Lombards.
NEVER attempt a man bun along with a suit, if at all.
The modern man-bun exploded on the London scene in 2010 through celebrities like David Beckham.
What's the difference between ancient buns and modern counterparts? Those guys were warriors that fought against the Romans. You? You don't look fit for a job interview.
There are more elegant ways to style long hair than this – this is a sloppy attempt to look hip. Don't fall for this trap.
Worst Men's Hairstyle 7. Aging Rockstar
This style gets its name from rockstars that made their name in the 60s and 80s, but still wear their hair as they did in their heyday.
These are men who can't embrace their age and adapt to it. Instead, they hold on to the old days and look terrible as a result.
Gentlemen, take this as a lesson – there is nothing wrong with dressing your age.
Worst Men's Hairstyle 8. Blowout / Temple Fade
The blowout is achieved when the hair is tapered from the scalp to 1 cm from the hairline. The rest of the hair is left the same according to the man's preference.
Stylish men know to steer clear of the Jersey Shore Blowout.
It blew up in Brooklyn in the early 2000s and became popular with rap artists – their fame made the trend inevitable. Infamous shows like Jersey shore made it a hit.
This cut is admittedly a minor offender when done modestly, but extreme examples – such as from Jersey Shore – should be avoided.
Worst Men's Hairstyle 9. ANY Greasy Style
This amounts to excessive amounts of gel. When hair shines like a diamond, it gives off the impression of uncleanliness and poor self-care.
The reason for this is that the less you wash your hair, the greasier it looks thanks to the natural buildup of oils.
The best way to mitigate this is by not only washing your hair at regular intervals but opting for a product that controls it while maintaining a matte finish.
Worst Men's Hairstyle 10. Rattail
This horrendous look crept through in the 1980s with the rise of manga and martial arts characters. Despite the initial fall from grace, it made a comeback through popular media such as the Star Wars prequel trilogy.

It's simply a long strip of hair that grows down the back of the neck while the rest is kept short. Imagine a man who thinks this will look great on him.
It's a corrupted ponytail, essentially – and it certainly belongs among the worst men's hairstyles.
Worst Men's Hairstyle 11. Bowl Cut
When it comes to the worst men's hairstyles, few compare to the bowl cut. It was used by priests and knights during the Crusades who then brought the style home. It returned in the 1970s and 80s for a brief spell as well.
The style looks as though somebody quite literally placed a bowl on your head. Cool, right? (Not really).
The bowl cut should have remained in the middle ages.
Luckily, the men who brave this style are few and far between. It's devolved into becoming the butt of jokes through the wondrous power of memes.
Worst Men's Hairstyle 12. The Curtains / Undercut
This questionable look made a return with the hit show Peaky Blinders. The roughneck British gangsters did indeed sport the look in the 1920s, but it was purely pragmatic. Having long hair proved to be a disadvantage in street fights, so the lads shaved the sides to compensate.
The signature style of the Peaky Blinders is a dated fad.
It worked for them, but it doesn't work for you – this is a trend that is sure to wear out its welcome once the show's been out a while.
Worst Men's Hairstyle 13. The Skrillex
There is one man responsible for this: artist John Moore, AKA Skrillex.
The style involves having one side of your head shaved, while the rest stays normal.
Skrillex's signature look sets him apart – but it's not for everyone.
