The Powerful Anti-Aging Serum I’ve Repurchased 6 Times, So Far!

This Anti-Aging Serum is Orange Juice for My Skin

The Anti-Aging Serum I Share With EVERYONE I Meet!

I’ve tried a lot of anti-aging skincare products in the last 5 years.  Some ridiculously expensive (and not worth it), some unnecessarily harsh (and ridiculously expensive lol), and some cheapies that were effective, of which this review is one!

If I was gonna be stuck on an island (which I basically am… I live on a barrier island with only two ways on and off), and could only choose one anti-aging skincare product in addition to my cleanser, it would be Mad Hippie’s Vitamin C serum. I’ve been using it regularly for more than a year, and whenever I have a week or two hiatus (because I forgot to restock), I can immediately notice the difference.  Reasons for the love affair-

  1. The texture – it’s thin, but not like water, like egg whites, almost. The application is luxurious!  It dries down tacky for a few minutes and then disappears into my skin, but not without leaving behind its unmistakable GLOWWWW!
  2. The glow – I get compliments all the time on my skin’s tone and appearance.  This serum doesn’t leave me oily or shiny, it leaves my skin looking balmy, taught, and youthful. In the review on Amazon (thousands of REAL ones), the word ‘taught’ thrown around  a lot! I concur.
  3. The minimal fragrance – I don’t like strong fragrances. This one is light and citrusy. Hella appropriate.
  4. The line minimizing – My little lines around my eyes are softened — I attribute this to the Vitamin A (same line) + C combo. It’s an anti-aging power combo!
  5. THAT GLOW– Again, it’s the glow for me. Also, the price. It’s not cheap, but at $30, it won’t break the bank either.

Ingredients:

Water Deionized, Vitamin C (Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate), Alkyl Benzoate, Vegetable Glycerin, Water, Glycerin, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Anisate, Clary Sage (Salvia Sclarea), Grapefruit (Citrus Grandis), Hyaluronic acid, Amorphophallus Konjac Root Powder, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf, Vitamin E (Tocotrienol), Ferulic acid, Chamomile Flower Extract (Recutita Matricaria), Sodium Phytate, Xanthan Gum, Hydroxyethylcellulose

Ingredient Highlights:

Vitamin C (Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate) – One of the most vital ingredients in any effective skin care regimen, Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles & discoloration.

Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, a more stable form of Vitamin C than the commonly used L-Ascorbic Acid found in most skin care products, provides the same benefits, without the risk of oxidation and irritation that is often associated with L-Ascorbic Acid.

Vitamin E – Protective antioxidant that has been shown to reduce the appearance of wrinkles & discoloration.

Ferulic Acid– A natural antioxidant found in the cell walls of plants. When combined with vitamins C & E, Ferulic Acid has been shown in studies to have a compounding antioxidant effect.

Hyaluronic Acid – A naturally occurring substance in the body, hyaluronic acid begins to deplete as we age. Applied topically it can help increase the plumped up look of the skin.

Konjac Root – Exotic flower from Asia, helps to soften & smooth the skin while forming a thin protective barrier. Rich in nutrients such as copper, zinc, phosphorus, fatty acids, protein, carbohydrates, lipids, potassium, magnesium, iron, niacin, folic acid & vitamins A, E, C, D & B!

Chamomile Extract – Provides a thin protective shield, while naturally soothing and calming the skin.

How I use It:

I apply it every morning (sometimes in the evenings, too, when I’m not using the Vitamin A serum) after cleansing my face with HumanRace’s Rice Powder Cleanser.  Sometimes, I’ll add Human Race’s moisturizer on top, after it dries down, but usually, I rock with it alone. It’s deceptively moisturizing due to the hyaluronic acid, veggie glycerin, and aloe.

I just ordered some BlackGirl Sunscreen (per Keri Shahidi’s recommendation at the BeHerSummit) as I’m thinking of adding a sunscreen back into rotation.  I use protective clothing (HUGE hats, shades, etc), and try to stay in the shade during peak sunny times, but I’m thinking of adding it back in!

Have you ever tried this line (Mad Hippie)?! What’s your favorite vitamin c serum?
