On Sunday, Beyoncé and Jay Z skipped the 77th annual Golden Globes Awards red carpet, arriving inside the Beverly Hilton just after the show began. Because she didn’t walk the carpet, viewers at home didn’t get a chance to appreciate the beauty that is Beyoncé in her couture (we could only see the voluminous statement sleeves from her waist up) — until now. On Monday, Beyoncé uploaded her Golden Globes gown to her Instagram in a series of photos. 

Beyoncé’s stylist, Zerina Akers, also shared the look to her Instagram, noting that Queen Bey is wearing custom Schiaparelli. Schiaparelli’s creative director Daniel Roseberry posted the photos of Beyoncé to his own account, and captioned the photos: “Queen. Mother. Living Legend. Thank you, Beyonce.” Beyoncé completed the look with Lorraine Schwartz earrings and opera-length sheer gloves. Jay Z wore a Tom Ford tuxedo for the occasion.

Beyoncé isn’t a stranger to the Globes, despite the low-key entrance. On Sunday, she was nominated for Best Original Song – Motion Picture for The Lion King‘s “Spirit.” Unfortunately, she didn’t win (the honor went to Rocketman’s “I’m Gonna Love Me Again” instead). Beyoncé was previously nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her role in the 2006 remake of Dreamgirls, and received two Best Original Song nominations, one for “Listen” from Dreamgirls and another for “Once In a Lifetime” from Cadillac Records.

Leave it to Beyoncé to arrive fashionably late but completely on-trend.

Gwyneth Paltrow Wore A Sheer Fendi Dress

Last night, on the Golden Globes red carpet, Gwyneth Paltrow told Ryan Seacrest she had “kind-of retired from acting” because she “has this company that I do.” She casually shared the info while wearing a sheer Fendi dress with a tiered skirt and puffy sleeves. Underneath, The Politician star wore a built-in bralette and matching high-cut briefs from the fashion house’s pre-fall 2020 collection. 

She completed her Golden Globes look with Christian Louboutin pumps, plus two Bulgari necklaces worn under the dress. 

When it comes to award shows, celebrities often play it a little too safe, working with stylists who can sometimes give all of their clients a similar look. Our favorites on Sunday night, Paltrow and her sheer Fendi gown included, were the people who made daring choices.

But it was actor Emerson Collins who summed up Paltrow’s fashion contribution the best, writing: “Gwyneth Paltrow describing her life and Goop as “I’ve kind-of retired from acting because I have this company that I do,” while dressed in brown sheer bed skirt couture over a statement necklace is what I want from a movie star.”

Paltrow’s look is very glamorous in all the right ways. Apparently, Goop dreams are made of gowns like these.

Fashion illustration is en vogue again. Since Vogue magazine published the first color photograph on its July 1932 cover, no Vogue magazine in any country has ever gone to print without one — until now. On Thursday, Vogue Italia announced all seven of its January 2020 covers were illustrated by both well-known and emerging artists who “told the story of fashion, giving up traveling, sending entire wardrobes, polluting. The challenge is to demonstrate that it is possible to tell the clothes without photographing them.”

Because Vogue Italia saved so much money working with illustrators instead of producing entire cover shoots, the magazine will donate what it would have spent on production to the restoration of the Querini Stampalia Onlus Foundation in Venice, which was damaged by a flood in November 2019.

This is a pretty big deal. In 2008, Laird Borrelli, author of Fashion Illustration by Fashion Designers, told Business of Fashion that when Vogue began to champion color photographs on its covers, it was a turning point for fashion illustration. Borelli notes that fashion illustration has gone from “being one of the sole means of fashion communication to having a very minor role.”

Vogue Is Aiming To Champion Diversity In 2020

On Thursday, H&M announced a Billie Eilish merch collection, in partnership with 3D artist Ines Alpha. In 2019, Eilish’s signature oversized outfits and love for the color green landed her on top of Google’s Most Googled Style list — so it’s safe to say you can expect a similar vibe for the singer’s H&M merch, all of which is made from sustainable materials. 

Eilish uses her own platform to promote sustainability, from asking her fans to use refillable water bottles at her shows to delivering messages about climate change on Instagram. And her new collection with H&M fits the bill. 

Available now, both in-store and online, the collection features long, boxy T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirt dresses, joggers, and T-shirt dresses in Eilish’s signature green, as well as cream, black, and pale green. According to a press release, Alpha created the graphics for the campaign imagery, using “surreal 3D elements” that resemble paint splatter. She also made a custom Snapchat filter with the same splattered look for shoppers to play with — while wearing the merch, of course. 

“I’m trying to push the boundaries of beauty and makeup by trying to offer more possibilities for self-expression,” Alpha said via press release. “And with 3D it’s pretty much endless — for the H&M Billie Eilish merch campaign, I wanted to work with liquids from another planet, floating around the models and bringing colors and fun to this augmented world.”

“We’re super excited about this merch collection drop,” Emily Bjorkheim, H&M’s Head of Design Divided said in a press release announcing the collection. “Billie Eilish is obviously an inspiring artist, but also someone a lot of people around the world admire for her personal style and empowering way of expressing her values. We want to enable her fans to step into her world and feel empowered to freely express their style as well.”

Kravitz gave the world the first look at her wedding gown six days ago in an Instagram post wishing her friend Alexander Wang a happy birthday, though she gave no indication that it was the dress. The photo featured Wang sprawled out in an armchair beside an ironing board looking at his phone. Behind him is a clothing rack with Kravitz’s gown. The sleeveless dress, with a round neck and full skirt, is the same one Kravitz is wearing in her wedding day photos, with ballet flats and a bow headband.

We’re not surprised Kravitz hid her wedding dress in plain sight in an Instagram post. Before revealing that she was engaged, she had a similar strategy with her engagement ring. By the time the ring made its first major public appearance in May, when the actress wore it on the Met Gala red carpet, she had already been quietly showing it on her Instagram for months.

It seems Kravitz is using Instagram for its intended purpose: sharing the details of her life with her family, friends, and, oh, 5.2 million fans.

It’s been 10 years since Proenza Schouler introduced its first-ever handbag, PS1. To celebrate, the label teamed up with director and artist Harmony Korine — who wrote the movies Kids and Spring Breakers — for a limited-edition 27-piece collection, featuring archival paintings on three new exclusive PS1 styles.

This is a full-circle moment for the brand, as Designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough worked with Korine in 2010 on “Act Da Fool,” a film featuring their fall 2010 collection (which reinvented the idea of a classic prep-school uniform). And in 2011, they worked together on a film inspired by the label’s southwest collection.

The brand will be releasing a limited run of 400 bags, each embossed with its number. “Blue Check Success” can be found on the bag’s Medium (or largest) size, while “Nudity Clause Line” is on the Tiny (second largest) style. Of course, tiny bags are having a moment, so our favorite is PS1’s smallest offering and features Korine’s “Photo Spirit Looper” artwork. 

Cheers to a decade, PS1. You’ve never looked better.
