vpnMentor Detected Data Breach for Over One Million Users of Porn Site Luscious.net

Thought your "alone time" was just between you, your laptop, and your favorite porn provider? Well ... maybe not.

If you've ever frequented Luscious.net for some libidinous luxuries, security researchers have found that your account information and personal details were left vulnerable to a recent data breach. This includes usernames, email addresses, location data and activity logs — and yes, all of the site's 1.195 million users were affected.

According to the researchers at vpnMentor who discovered the breach: "Our team was able to access this database because it was completely unsecured and unencrypted." They go on to explain that this exposed information makes it easy for any potential blackmailers or extortionists to utilize Luscious account holders' personal details for their own malicious intent.

The smartest thing any Internet porn viewer can do is use a bogus email address when creating an account. However, vpnMentor found quite a few users who signed up with official government emails. That's practically begging to be blackmailed, much like what happened during the Ashley Madison hack in 2015. Our friends at Mashable have more on the similarities between these two data breaches.

The good news is that vpnMentor is not saying for sure that any of the data was necessarily stolen; it's just that it was sitting out there in the open, waiting to be taken. In even better news, Luscious has since fixed the security issue as of August 19.

Luscious.net deals with some pretty niche pornography, mostly of the animated, user-uploaded variety. Basically, it's a digital warehouse of Rule 34: "If it exists, or can be imagined, there is Internet porn of it." Much of the site's content seems to be accessible without creating an account, so whether you were there to find proof that your favorite childhood character has indeed been pornified, or because hentai is just your thing (hey, no judgement), you shouldn't have anything to worry about as long as you never created an account.

However, if you do have an account over at Luscious.net, now would be a fantastic time to change your password.
