AXE and Netflix's 'Sex Education' Join Forces to Create the Ultimate Modern Dating Guide for Gen Z

Men's grooming company AXE recently conducted a survey to uncover the sex and dating habits of Gen Z guys in the U.S. and U.K. and the results have led to an awesome, confidence-boosting collaboration with Netflix’s hit series “Sex Education.”

The study — dubbed The AXE Confidence Crisis — revealed that the generation born in 1995 through 2012 (give or take), has been plagued with a serious lack of mojo when it comes to sex and relationships. In fact, it revealed that 47 percent of teen guys in the U.S. and 49 percent in the U.K. have held back from asking someone out on a date because they didn't feel confident enough to shoot their shot. Many Gen Z guys also believe that they're not having as much sex as previous generations (which is impossible, if you ask a millennial).

Overall, the study found that guys feel they don't have access to the proper resources to find answers about dating, love and sex. It turns out that growing up in a world with Google-powered robots at your fingertips is not conducive to getting all of your questions about emotions and human connection answered. Can’t say we’re surprised there.

AXE’s study also found that 42 percent of U.S. guys and 44 percent of U.K. guys aged 14-24 said they're more comfortable talking to their crush on social media rather than face-to-face. Sure, it may feel easier to slide into someone's DMs, but nearly half of the respondents ultimately agreed that the Internet creates way too much pressure to "perform" when it comes to sex and dating. On social media, you can create a version of yourself that's cool and seemingly flawless, but in the long run, it can be hard to live up to that persona in real life.

Speaking of "performing" on the Internet, 1 in 3 guys surveyed said they turn to pornography for advice on sex. This can be a particularly detrimental place to search for answers about realistic sexual encounters, and it can easily tank both physical and emotional confidence in the bedroom.

"Young men need to understand that the porn they see on the Internet, along with the idealized bodies on social media, are not reality," said Dr. Jessie Cheung, dermatologist and sexual wellness expert. "You're not alone — everyone suffers from some anxiety with sex. You may need to wean yourself off the need to watch porn to reach orgasm, but as you practice, you'll gain more confidence."

Cheung also warns that overexposure to porn can desensitize the brain to sexual arousal, potentially leading to erectile dysfunction or even "sexual anorexia" — the avoidance of IRL sexual encounters to find release through porn instead.

"Real-life sexual situations may not be ‘perfect,’ but at least it's real and attainable, and [you] should be participating," she encourages. "Put down the phones, be present and enjoy sex in the real world!"

All of these potentially harmful ramifications of looking for answers in all the wrong places is the precise reason why AXE has teamed up with "Sex Education" to create the Ultimate Modern Dating Guide. If you want to set up your own, it's actually quite easy thanks to CBS Sports putting together a very official-looking template you can print out for yourself.

On the outside of the grid, the numbers 0-9 are placed randomly along the top and the left side, effectively assigning a numeric value to each row and column. One team will be designated for the horizontal axis, and the other team for the vertical axis. These assignments can occur before or after everyone has picked their boxes, but beware that anyone with any knowledge of football scoring is sure to grab the most coveted boxes first, so it may be a little unfair.

Once everyone has chosen their box (or boxes), it's time to sit back and wait for kickoff. The score at the end of each quarter will determine the winners throughout the game based on the last digit that each team puts up on the scoreboard. For example, if your box is Chiefs 0, 49ers 7, and the Chiefs score 20 points while the 49ers score 17, you win.

Traditionally, a new winner is determined at the end of each quarter with the biggest prize awarded for the final score at the end of game, but there are variations if you really want to up the stakes. For instance, you could determine winners after each minute on the clock, giving your players 60 different chances to win.

However you decide to play, it’s a fun way to get everyone at your Super Bowl party excited about the game even if they can't tell a forward pass from a fumble.

Tinder Is Adding a Panic Button to Save You from Nightmare Dates

The dating game can be a dangerous one, and we don't just mean for your heart. That's why dating app Tinder is set to roll out new security features by the end of January to help keep its users safe.

Tinder's parent company, Match Group, will utilize its recent acquisition of security app Noonlight to help keep daters safe both on and off of their dating platforms, according to The Wall Street Journal. Tinder will begin by offering a profile badge — think of it as a lawn sign that alerts potential robbers that a house is equipped with a security system. Users will also gain the ability to record details about their dates, including the time and location, as well as pertinent information about the person they're meeting. If anything goes awry and the panic button is triggered, Noonlight will ultimately share this information with the authorities.

If you're concerned about accidentally triggering the panic button (as if first dates aren't awkward enough), it's not quite that simple. The user must enter a predetermined code when they trigger the button, and if that code is not entered, Noonlight will send a text to make sure everything is OK. If there's no response to the text, Noonlight will call the user, and if that call is ignored, that's when emergency services will be alerted. 

The only hitch here? You'll have to share your location data with the app. It's not the type of data that most people like to share, but it's a small and very necessary price to pay for peace of mind.

According to Mandy Ginsberg, Match Group’s CEO, she hopes to run the company's dating businesses just like a mom by putting safety first (something your own mom can certainly appreciate).

"I think a lot about safety, especially on our platforms, and what we can do to curtail bad behavior," said Ginsberg. "There are a lot of things we tell users to do. But if we can provide tools on top of that, we should do that as well."

Recently, Tinder has faced harsh criticism for failing to protect its users from dangerous dating situations, including claims of sexual assault, and even murder as a result of right swipes that've gone wrong. Implementing this new feature adds a bit of comfort knowing that they are putting in real effort to make digital dating that much safer.

Match Group's other dating apps, including OkCupid and Plenty of Fish, are expected to release similar features within the next few months. There are also plans for Tinder to roll out a verification service to cut down on catfishing by ensuring that users' profile photos are actually their own. 

These services could very well be the difference between life and death for some daters, and at the very least, it's nice to know you've got some extra backup to keep you safe when out with someone you just met.

Plenty of Fish Survey Reveals How Big of a Role Sports Play in Relationships

Dating app Plenty of Fish conducted a survey of more than 1,500 singles to find out just how big of a role sports play in modern dating and relationships, and some of the answers were pretty surprising.

POF's survey came out blazing with the truly hard-hitting questions and found that one-third of respondents would prefer to give up beer and wine before they gave up sports. With alcohol and game day going hand-in-hand for most fans, this had to be an incredibly difficult choice for respondents to make. Our thoughts are with them at this troubling time.

The survey also discovered that one-third of respondents would rather give up their smartphone than give up watching their favorite teams play. Yikes, we don't even want to think about having to choose between these two.

Being a dating site after all, Plenty of Fish also included some crucial questions about dating and relationships in their sports-centric survey. It revealed that 18 percent of singles have pretended to know more about a sport or a particular team just to impress their date. This skewed a little higher for women (22 percent) than it did for men (14 percent), and Gen Z is the age group most likely to fib about their love of sports.

However, there is hope! Nearly 60 percent of all singles polled said that they would rather go on a date than go to a sporting event … but then again, wouldn’t it be even better to combine the two? In fact, 44 percent of singles said that sharing a love of sports brought them closer to the person they were dating. Talk about scoring the best of both worlds.

And speaking of scoring, the poll revealed that men are twice as likely (58 percent) than women (27 percent) to choose a romp in the sheets over watching a game … although 30 percent of men did admit to keeping the game on in the background while doing the deed. It’s not all hit-it-and-quit-it, though. Fifty-two percent of singles revealed that they’d rather cuddle than go to a game — and men are 10 percent more likely than women to make this choice.

Even more surprising results were revealed when it came to long-term relationships, however. While 36 percent of survey-takers said that getting engaged at a sporting event would be super tacky or embarrassing, another 39 percent said that it would actually be awesome. Now, we know what you're probably thinking: the guys said stadium engagements are great, and the women gave 'em a big ol' nope, right? Wrong. The stats don't lie, and they say that 44 percent of women felt that getting engaged at a sporting event would be totally cool, while just 35 percent of men felt the same.

So maybe your scoreboard proposal isn't such a lame idea after all.

Study Finds Correlation Between Fish Oil and Sperm Health

You may not be worried about your fertility at the moment, but there may come a time in your life when you and a lucky lady will want to put those swimmers to work. Unfortunately, infertility affects roughly 15 percent of all couples, and nearly half of those fertility issues are due to male factors. However, a recent study has found that there may be a natural pill that could bring men more fertile results: fish oil.

A group of scientists from Harvard, the University of Copenhagen and the University of Southern Denmark conducted research on a group of 1,679 healthy young men in Denmark. The resulting study, published in JAMA Network Open, found that participants who took fish oil supplements experienced higher semen volume and total sperm count. They also noted larger testicular size, presumably because they were packing so many more swimmers.

Of course, a randomized clinical trial is still necessary to determine if these results can be replicated among a group of previously unselected men, but these preliminary findings are still pretty promising.

The study states that an overall decline in semen quality has been noted over the past 50 to 70 years, but the cause of this decline likely varies by region. Differing lifestyle and behavioral changes are certainly at play, as well as exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals in some areas. Diet is also likely to play a role, according to a 2017 systematic review which found that a healthy diet rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamin D and folate — and low in saturated fatty acids and trans–fatty acids — could produce better semen quality. That said, it shouldn't be forgotten that sperm health is likely to have a direct correlation to overall health, so it’s of the utmost benefit to both you and your boys to keep yourself healthy in all regards.

With environmental factors completely out of our control, it’s promising to know that men might be able to take charge of their own sperm health — and it’s as easy as adding a capsule to your daily vitamin arsenal (like this top-rated option). You might also choose to add more fish to your diet to get all of those great sperm-boosting nutrients right from the source. Plus, a tasty meal may be preferable to taking a pill that's likely to give you the fish burps anyway. You might as well enjoy on its way down, right?

Anthony Bourdain's Posthumous Book 'World Travel: An Irreverent Guide' Is Available for Pre-Order on Amazon

It's been over a year since Anthony Bourdain sadly took his own life, but fans are still being treated to little tidbits and insights into the chef, author and world traveler's extraordinary existence on this planet.

In October, a new book will be posthumously released with the help of some of Bourdain's closest friends. He began "World Travel: An Irreverent Guide" before his death in June of 2018, so the majority of the content will be in his own words. You can expect the travel guide to include the engaging television host's usual wit and sarcasm, along with the irreverent attitude for which he was so beloved by fans the world over. The book's description also teases insights and advice for visiting locales such as Paris, Oman, Buenos Aires, and his stomping grounds in New York City. 

In addition to Bourdain's own words, his assistant Laurie Woolever — who also co-wrote his last cookbook "Appetites" — has stepped in to fill in any gaps in time for its release in the fall.

"I was lucky to work closely with Tony for nearly a decade," Woolever said in a recent press release. "And I’m so pleased to be able to share his reflections and insights about the world, as he saw it, in this guide."

Bourdain often leaned on his friends for guidance as he traveled the world for his hit shows, including "No Reservations" and "Parts Unknown." So it's no surprise that so many of them would step in to help him complete this new book even after he's gone. "World Travel: An Irreverent Guide" will include essays written by the people who knew Bourdain best —- including his brother Chris —- and each chapter will begin with a sketch by cartoonist Tony Millionaire, like the one seen on the book's cover.

Late-night talk show host James Corden has revealed that his New Year's resolution is to go Spanx-less for one episode of "The Late Late Show" this year.

Corden, the venerable Jack-of-all-trades and self-described "chunky unit," shared in an interview with Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) and RuPaul ("RuPaul's Drag Race") that his 2020 goal is to get to a point where he can feel comfortable filming his show without the help of his trusty shapewear.

"It'll be like I'm suddenly free, Ru," the 41-year-old English comedian excitedly declared. "I won't know what to do! I'll be breathing!"

RuPaul asked if the audience at home would be able to tell when that episode airs.

"Oh, we'll know," Brosnahan chimed in, clearly familiar with the notoriously restrictive fashion device. Earlier in the interview, the actress discussed the discomfort of wearing a corset every day while filming “Maisel.”

"You'll know, babe! I'll shout it from the rooftops," Corden confirmed.

The "Cats" star opened up about fat-shaming last September in response to a comment made by fellow talk-show host Bill Maher. The opinionated comedian said on his show "Real Time with Bill Maher" that fat-shaming "needs to make a comeback," citing that "some amount of shame is good" when pointing out the perceived unhealthiness of fat.

Corden retorted in a segment on his own show, stating that "fat-shaming never went anywhere. I mean, ask literally any fat person. We are reminded of it all the time.”

"There’s a common and insulting misconception that fat people are stupid and lazy, and we’re not ... We know that being overweight isn’t good for us and I’ve struggled my entire life trying to manage my weight and I suck at it," Corden continued. "While you're encouraging people to think about what goes into their mouths, just think a little harder about what comes out of yours."

Consider the mic dropped. We'll just be over here rooting for Corden on his journey to whatever physique makes him happy and healthy.

Sitcom Based on Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's Childhood Is Headed to NBC

NBC announced this weekend that they will be picking up a new sitcom based on the childhood of wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

The upcoming single-camera comedy entitled "Young Rock" has received a straight-to-series order of 11 episodes, as announced at NBC’s Television Critics Association presentation on Saturday. The show will follow Johnson's formative years in Hawaii and Nashville, his time as a University of Miami football star, and will even venture into to the start of his then-budding wrestling career. Both Johnson and executive producer Brian Gewirtz couldn't wait to hop on Twitter to spread the exciting news about the series pick-up, and Gewirtz even shared a fun teaser trailer packed with nostalgic photos of the little pebble that "The Rock" once was.

"We’re going to find Young Rock, for example, wreaking havoc in the streets of Hawaii when I was a very young teenager, getting arrested seemingly every single week, doing a lot of things I shouldn’t have been doing," Johnson shared in a video message at NBC's presentation, according to Deadline. "Still a good kid," he was sure to add.

The pilot of "Young Rock" was co-written by Jeff Chiang and Nahnatchka Khan, both of "Fresh Off the Boat" fame. Khan will also executive produce alongside Johnson and his Seven Bucks squad which includes ex-wife Dany Garcia, her brother Hiram Garcia, and Gewirtz.

"When we pitched the show to our friends at NBC, at the end of the pitch, all jaws were dropped and all hands were raised,” Johnson shared. “They said ‘We are in 100 percent, you’re not allowed to pitch this anywhere else.’”

Somehow, Johnson has found the time in his insanely busy schedule to not only be fully hands-on with the production of his new television series, but says that they have found "a really fun, creative way" to weave him into every episode of the show as well.  The "Jumanji" star also currently plays the lead role in HBO's "Ballers," and recently added NBC's "The Titan Games" to his long list of hosting and presenting gigs.

No premiere date has been set for "Young Rock" as of yet, but we're hoping to see it hit our TV screens next fall!

Brad Pitt Revealed That Bradley Cooper Helped Him Get Sober During His Best Supporting Actor Win

Brad Pitt revealed that his good friend Bradley Cooper has been a driving force behind his sobriety, and it's just the inspirational bromance we needed to see in the midst of this Dry January.

At the National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala on Wednesday night, Pitt won Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood." The award was presented to him by his pal and all-around good guy, Bradley Cooper, and the two shared a hug as Pitt accepted his honor. The 56-year-old actor then went on to share the immense amount of appreciation he has for Cooper's support on his path to sobriety.

"I got sober because of this guy," Pitt said in his acceptance speech. "And every day's been happier ever since."

He then turned to Cooper, gave him a big thumbs up and said "I love you, and I thank you."

After his 2017 split with Angelina Jolie, Pitt spent a year and a half at Alcoholics Anonymous in a recovery group that consisted solely of men.

"You had all these men sitting around being open and honest in a way I have never heard," he recalled in an interview with The New York Times. "It was this safe space where there was little judgment, and therefore little judgment of yourself."  

Since then, Pitt has remained committed to his sobriety, but this marks the first occasion that he's mentioned Cooper's help on his years-long journey.

Looks like this is just a good ol' case of a Brad helping out another Brad. But, if you think you may have a drinking problem and don't have your own helpful Brad to turn to, there are plenty of resources that can provide assistance — and there's certainly no shame in that.

With warmer weather looming over the region for the foreseeable future, it's expected that fires will continue to burn for the next few months.

So how can you, a human on the other side of the planet, possibly help? The most helpful answer is to follow in the footsteps of local celebrities who have donated the most in-demand resource (money) to the cause. You may not be able to give millions like they have, but any little bit helps, and there are plenty of reputable organizations where you can donate.

The Australian Red Cross, for example, is assisting tens of thousands of displaced people in evacuation centers and recovery hubs across the country. Donations support emergency assistance in the most devastated areas, aid victims with relief supplies and help communities prepare for the future with training, equipment and coordination of volunteers.

If you're hoping to funnel your monetary contributions to the hardest-hit areas of Australia, Victoria and New South Wales along the southeast coast are definitely it. To help the tireless firefighters who are actively working to save their communities from further destruction, donations can be made directly to the fire departments in these states — many of which are volunteer based — through their official government websites: Victoria County Fire Authority (CFA) and NSW Rural Fire Service.

To help support the families of firefighters who have been killed while fighting these fires, the NSW Rural Fire Service has also set up a separate donation area. Similarly, the Victorian government has established the Victorian Bushfire Appeal, a partnership with Bendigo Bank and The Salvation Army that will pass along 100 percent of donated funds to its communities in need of relief.

The Australian bushfires have not only taken the lives of dozens of people so far, but have also destroyed over 15 million acres and caused the loss of a staggering amount of wildlife, now estimated to be over one billion. The Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service Inc. (WIRES) is helping to rescue (and ultimately rehabilitate) the affected animals that remain. 

"With the fires destroying unprecedented amounts of habitat, food shortages have increased and lack of suitable habitat will be a significant long-term challenge for surviving wildlife,” WIRES states on their website.

To help Australian wildlife now and well into the future, WIRES has made it incredibly easy to donate through several avenues, including PayPal.

The World Wildlife Fund has also made an appeal to save the koalas, already headed toward extinction before these fires. To help WWF care for injured Australian wildlife and plant 10,000 native trees in critical koala habitats once the fires die down, donate directly to their restorative efforts here. However, if you prefer to donate through Humane Society International, they've teamed up with HSI/Australia to raise funds for both the immediate and future needs of affected wildlife, including food, water and safe habit construction.

Whether you're local to Australia or have the means to travel there, you may be tempted to offer your time rather than your money. Before you jump in and join the fight against these powerful blazes (like these American heroes), know that most emergency response organizations require a designated amount of training before you can volunteer, so it's best to do a little research before you take that leap. 

No matter how you decide to contribute, just remember that every little bit of help that you can offer makes an impact to alleviate the suffering in the land down under.
