The Challenge Star Jenna Compono Has Nothing to Prove on Social Media

Don’t let Jenna Compono’s looks throw you off. A quick glance at her Instagram might leave you thinking she’s just another stunning reality TV starlet, but not only does “The Challenge” vet have brains and brawn, she’s got plenty of heart to boot.

Six seasons of MTV’s long-running reality series has turned Compono into one of the show’s fan favorites for many reasons. Yes, she’s undeniably gorgeous, but she’s forever grateful for everything the series has brought into her life (even if that grand prize money hasn’t always ended up in her pocket).

When picking a highlight of her career thus far, she calls out “being on so many challenges, meeting so many lifelong friends and traveling the world doing things most people wouldn’t do in their lifetime.”

“I got to compete for so much money, and I ended up with an amazing relationship,” adds Compono. “I have to say, all these opportunities have made me so blessed.”

Will Compono saddle up for another “Challenge” rodeo in the future? Our money is on yes, but until then, AskMen spoke to her about her social media presence, competing alongside her boyfriend and that glorious post-beach shower.

AskMen: What’s your favorite curse word to use, and in what situations do you use it the most?

Jenna Compono: I rarely ever curse. I always say “friggen,” but when it comes to NY traffic, you better believe I am screaming every curse word in the book.

If someone were to buy you a drink at the bar, what would you tell ‘em to get you?

Easy! A vodka soda. A low calorie drink that won’t make me feel bloated, or have a hangover the next day. I do love all types of shots as well.

How do you think your presence on social media has helped (or hindered) you at times in your life?

I think that being on social media, people are getting to see how I am in my everyday life, and it helps them relate to and overcome similar obstacles they have in their lives. People only see bits and pieces of me on TV, so when I get messages where people are telling me they look up to me and and all these amazing comments, it really just motivates me to post more about my life so that people can relate.

For example, I post workouts a lot because I am always asked what I do at the gym. The only bad thing with social media is you will always have the haters that will say everything and anything to bring you down.

What did competing on “The Challenge” alongside boyfriend Zach Nichols teach you about your relationship?

Although it sounds great filming a show with your significant other, it was one of the hardest things we had to do as a couple. It really tested and pushed our relationship to its limit. We learned a lot about each other and how we handle certain situations, what we need to work on and our strengths and weaknesses.

It’s also hard because we’re so worried about each other that we can lose sight of the game sometimes, but I truly believe if we can make it through multiple “Challenge” seasons, we can make it through anything.

Back during your single days, what was the key to mastering a first date to get past nerves?

I am all for having a drink before a first date to help loosen up and relax. Chances are your date is just as nervous as you! Put some music on while you’re getting ready, start dancing around and building your confidence.

What’s your favorite quality in a man?

I like my man to make me feel secure. Also, there’s a fine line between cocky and confident. Thinking ‘you’re the man’ is going to get you nowhere. But physically, I like pretty teeth and manly hands.

What should a guy do if he wanted to get your attention?

Every possible thing he can without looking like an idiot. I like someone that can come up, start a conversation and keep that conversation going.

What do you have to do in order to feel your sexiest?

I feel sexy after taking a post-beach shower. I feel so tan and skinny afterwards ... I love just throwing on little shorts and a tank after.

Is there something you wish all men would start doing when out with their partner?

I wish that men would show more affection when out with their significant other. I am not saying go make out at the bar, but something as simple as holding hands.

How have you gone on to prove to audiences that you are way more than just a beautiful woman with a large social media following?

I feel like I don’t have to prove anything. There are tons of women with pretty faces and a following. I just love that people write to me, and tell me how much they look up to and relate to me. I really try to write back to everyone and give advice, or answer questions that people ask. I don’t do things for a reward ... I do them because I genuinely enjoy helping people with their obstacles.

So what’s next for you?

I go day by day, but my life’s finally falling into place finally. My boyfriend and I just bought a house, and we are focusing on our relationship at the moment. We plan to do other “Challenge” seasons while taking on any other opportunities that come our way.
