It’s no surprise the weed business is booming, with every type of industry turning their eye toward the big green buds and the greenbacks that come with it. But American Marijuana is producing some seriously wild vibes online, man — they’re hiring people to smoke weed and paying a salary to do it.

In a job listing on their website, American Marijuana made it crystal clear they're not just looking for some super-baked stoners who won’t take the gig seriously.

“This job is 100% for real and it’s an important job that includes more than just getting paid to smoke weed. If you think that’s the entire scope of the job, then this might not be for you.”

It seems that American Marijuana prides itself on providing a professional, informed outlook on all things cannabis. The site was started five years ago and has been growing like a weed ever since. 

Although the job is serious, the gig listing doesn't take itself too seriously — even cracking a rap-game joke. American Marijuana does make expectations clear, pushing perpetually stoned tokers out of the running early.

“If you think you got the guts to smoke weed every day (plays Snoop Dogg song) and get paid doing it, you might just be the guy we need. But DO NOT expect us to hire you just because you can smoke because we’re looking for a guy who also has extensive knowledge of marijuana to educate our readers.”

To land the gig as the official Cannabis Product Reviewer, there are some requirements you should be aware of before you apply — you have to be 18 years of age and residing in a state (or Canadian province) where cannabis has been legalized. And for some reason, you’ll need to be physically fit and healthy. The successful applicant will receive multiple varieties of flower to sample, as well as different CBD oil formulations. Edibles are also on the table as well as hardware like vaporizers, bongs, and pipes, with unboxing videos being just one line item of the lengthy job description.

The best part? The pay. Whoever lands this dream job will find themselves bringing down about $36,000 per year, depending on qualifications and related experience. That's a pretty respectable take-home for a job promising free weed in exchange for an honest, educated opinion on … weed.

You’ll need to send a bio, resume, headshot or preferably a link to a video about why you’re the guy or gal for the gig, links to social media accounts and at least six street or slang terms for marijuana (just to show you know what you’re talking about.)

Apparently, Seth Rogen and his wife Lauren Miller are big fans of food delivery services such as Postmates, with their bill over the last five years coming to a shocking $21,000, according to “The Receipt.”

In an episode presumably ripe with 4/20 references and other pot-related jokes (Seth Rogen is perhaps Hollywood's most famous stoner, and Lauren appreciates the herb as well), Postmates’ “The Receipt” breaks down some of the A-lister's favorite munchies.

What exactly did the couple order to rack up a $21,000 bill over five years? For instance, on his 33rd birthday, April 15, 2015, Seth ordered spicy tuna with crispy rice, seared scallop and sauteed spinach, baked eel, yellowtail with jalapeno, a half-dozen baked crab hand rolls and literally a mountain more food options from Izaka-Ya by Katsu-Ya.

For Lauren's part, she ordered up some egg flower soup, dan dan noodles, and a small box of white rice on July 24, 2017 — her birthday.

And of course, both absolutely adore the grilled American cheese sandwich, matzo ball soup, and deep-fried chicken tenders (who doesn't) from Canter's Delicatessen.

When prompted to give an answer as to why they had such a love affair with Postmates, Lauren and Seth were quick to come up with a suitable cover story.

“Because we don’t usually have time to cook, we order food a lot. The hardest times are when neither of us have a food vision for the night,” they told “The Receipt.” “That’s when someone has to dig deep and find the craving within.”

Seth and Lauren also enjoy hitting up the Postmates app in celebration of the spookiest of seasons, Halloween. Rather than tying one on at an exclusive downtown nightclub (as you might imagine for a power couple), the two would rather settle in to have some fun with trick or treaters — and chow down on delivery.

“We live in West Hollywood where there’s a massive parade and a lot of street closures, so we celebrate Halloween by eating delicious food and staying in our house hoping we’ll get some trick or treaters.”

While Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller's Postmates bill may dwarf most of ours, it's not as if they're above giving back to their community, either. Famous for their philanthropy and support of charitable causes — most recently hosting a Hilarity for Charity County Fair in September, with the proceeds supporting Alzheimer's awareness — both actor and actress seem to have pitched in more than their due when it comes to volunteerism.

As anyone who's used Postmates (or competitors like DoorDash and Skip the Dishes) realizes, those bills can add up a lot more quickly than you realize. That being said, you've gotta give Seth and Lauren credit for coughing up their receipts for public scrutiny — that takes guts and a little self-deprecating humor, even for comedians.

Cuffing Season Is Real and Your Family Might Be to Blame, Says Study

With temperatures dropping as the year winds down, singles who normally want nothing to do with a relationship are actively looking to keep themselves warm up with a significant other in their bed. And with the holidays fast approaching, scratching this itch inevitably leads to discussions of the upcoming concept of “cuffing season.” Why has it become such a phenomenon?

Well, according to a recent study, your family might be to blame for your desire to find a mate during the colder months.

A new study from LawnStarter indicates that a majority of us believe in the existence of cuffing season, with 56 percent of those surveyed saying that it's real. That number may be slightly less than the number of people who still put faith in the spirit of old Saint Nick.

Aside from the desire to cozy up with someone under a blanket, cuffing season provides you with someone to exchange Christmas presents with, to smooch under the mistletoe and to have on your arm when it comes to all those festive shindigs you’re inevitably to do.

According to the study, one-third (35 percent) of respondents admitted to bringing someone special with them to the family feast just to satisfy expectations. And 16 percent of all those asked said their yuletide flings were motivated by pressure coming from family members.

And which family member might that be, usually? Fingers are pointed at mom for this one. Of those who said that family pressure was a big factor in their decision to “cuff up” for the holidays, over half said it was their own mothers who hounded them over being single. Don't count grandma out, either, as she's not too far behind: 11 percent said it was the matriarch of the clan as the nosiest when it comes to her grandkids and their love interests.

Dear old dad apparently doesn't have a problem with minding his own business, with only 5 percent of respondents saying their fathers ask about their relationships (brothers, uncles and grandpas were even less).

For some, the decision to find cuff someone during this time is a little bit more selfish. About 7 percent of ladies and 10 percent of guys will hook up with someone just for the social media snapshots, and some dark-hearted survey respondents (just over 2 percent) copped to faking an actual interest just to get Christmas presents.

Now that'll land you on the naughty list, for sure.

When the gavel finally came down at a recent auction, one person walked away with a one-of-a-kind timepiece that will never be duplicated, and someone else walked away $31 million richer.

The crown jewel of the collection at the Only Watch auction in Geneva on November 9, was on offer as part of Lot 28. Although the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime was expected to go for a high price, speculation was running rampant that the timepiece may not exceed the previous sales record set by the auction of the Rolex Daytona which had been owned by the iconic Paul Newman. That Rolex Daytona sold for $17.7 million just two years ago, in New York.

But the bids came in fast and furious and when the dust cleared, the Ref. 6300A-010 Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime sold for a record-breaking $31 million.

A description posted on the auction house’s website spells out exactly why this unique wristwatch might demand such a sky-high selling price, pointing to a stainless steel frame with “two dials in rose gold and black ebony.” The reversible case is “adorned with a hand-guilloche hobnail pattern,” and also features a patented reversing system. The auction listing dives deeper into the details surrounding the one-of-a-kind artifact.

“This exceptional grand complication features 20 complications in its stainless steel case, including no fewer than five chiming modes, two of which are patented world firsts: an acoustic alarm that strikes the preselected time and a date repeater sounding the date on demand.”

The Grandmaster Chime is also famous for the immense amount of technical skill involved in its creation — after all, the watch contains a perpetual calendar, the ability to work with a second time zone, and for the fact that the brand itself has developed a reputation for excellence.

The best part? The proceeds from the highly esteemed auction went to charity in support of research into treatments (and perhaps a cure) for muscular dystrophy. 

According to the founder of the Only Watch charity auction, Luc Pettavino, “Breaking records is obviously a source of pride and happiness. What matters most today is the difference we are going to be able to make in research against muscular dystrophies and for hundreds of thousands of patients and families around the world for their lives to get better.”

Aston Martin has collabed with Brough Superior create its very first motorcycle, the AMB 001. This bike blends the extremely rich finery that the manufacturer has always been known for with a futuristic, nearly anime-inspired aesthetic with the engineering of Brough Superior.

It's not just a fancy bike, either. The classic sensibility of Aston Martin is evident from the get-go, according to recently released photos, with the seat — or “saddle” as the manufacturers prefer — being made from hand-stitched Oxford Tan leather. Matching handlebars in a chestnut hue help to offset an unusual color scheme, while a smooth carbon fiber, titanium, and billet aluminum exterior look swanky (and super sci-fi).

Matte black wheels, forks, and brake assemblings bring a bit of understated strength to the otherwise flashy as f*ck look, and the “Sterling Green” and “Lime Essence” colorways are carried out to the same standard of excellence one would expect.

Looks are one thing, though. There's a reason you can't take the AMB 001 out on the road. The bike is track-legal only, meaning you won't be spinning the tires to pick up a pack of smokes and a few scratch tickets at the corner store any time soon. A turbocharged 180 horsepower V-twin engine is partially responsible for this restriction, though the six-figure price tag likely means that whoever picks up one of these bad boys won't mind taking it to the speedway for a bit of harmless fun.

And the price? Nearly $120,000, so start saving up your nickels and dimes if you want to take a spin on this two-wheeled bit of British ingenuity. But don’t drag your feet because only 100 of the AMB 001s are slated to roll off the assembly line—you’ll need to get your pre-orders in fast if you're serious about taking home a bit of automotive history.

“This is what we believe a cutting-edge motorcycle should be and we are very proud to see the Aston Martin wings on a motorcycle for the first time,” Aston Martin Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman said in a statement. “In addition to applying the skills we have developed for cars such as the groundbreaking Aston Martin Valkyrie we have also been able to bring our special expertise in the traditional craft techniques to this project. The finished product is a truly beautiful motorcycle; a design and engineering work of art.”

It's hard to argue with such powerful words, especially given Aston Martin and Brough Superior’s track record of engineering excellence and stylistic success. Bringing Aston Martin into the world of luxury motorcycles is one thing — doing so with such a degree of exclusivity and effectiveness is another entirely.

First, it probably shouldn’t surprise anyone that the anonymous women surveyed admitted that size matters. Surprisingly however, there was a strong preference for an average-sized penis rather than a giant one. That should take a little bit of the edge off, at least.

Unsurprisingly (take a look around any major urban center these days), women are showing a notable interest in short hair paired with beards. Given the massive crush of 20-something and 30-something guys roaming the streets with tight fades and hipster beards, it looks like guys might have already picked up on this signal.

Being hairy all over isn't that desirable, though, with the 1970s-era Tom Selleck or Burt Reynolds chest seemingly well out of fashion in the survey results. One thing that hasn’t changed much over the years though — it’s best for men to be taller than your potential date — nearly 90% of women said they preferred their hookup partner to be taller than them.

Also, you might want to make sure to hit the gym if you want to be chosen for her next casual relationship. Only 10% of women said they preferred “a little extra” weight on their date, and that already discouraging number plummeted to a measly 1.6% of women who prefer a chubby suitor for something more casual.

Women from different countries have wildly different standards and expectations, too. French and Italian women like their lovers to be experienced, passionate, and physically attractive. Ladies from Spanish-speaking countries are all about kindness and compassion when it comes to having a little fun between the sheets, and British and American women are the least fussy overall.

With these bits of forbidden, sacred knowledge in mind, you may be better equipped to take on the jungle that is casual dating in the current year. Take a deep breath, a shot of apple cider vinegar, and get a full-priced salon haircut. The rest will apparently sort itself out, especially if you take some extra steps like shaving your chest.

Teaming up with North Dakota-based animal rescue organization 4 Luv of Dog, Fargo Brewing is proud to launch their “Oneder Dog” lager in support of these wayward pups. The Facebook page detailing the launch of Oneder Dog goes out of its way to make sure that attendees know they can add a furry friend to their family, if they so choose.

“It’s our hope that through this event we can raise a little awareness about these ‘one’derful pooches and hopefully find them homes of their own!”

As it turns out, some of these dogs have spent more time than average at the shelter. Long-time 4 Luv of Dog volunteer Jerad Ryan told Food & Wine, “The harder-to-adopt dogs sometimes labeled as ‘Oneder dogs’ have always had a special place in my heart. My first three-and-a-half years volunteering at the shelter I would spend extra time with the dogs that had been there long-term mostly due to the fact they don't do well living with any other dogs. Many of our foster homes already have a resident dog or two [so] it is difficult to find these particular dogs a forever home.”

Enough tugging on the heartstrings — what about the beer? Is it any good? The secret behind the Oneder Dog brew is that it's actually a rebranding of an award-winning original creation from Fargo Brewing. In 2017, their Fargo Original took home the bronze medal at the Great American Beer Festival, having placed in the “Kellerbier or Zwickelbier” category.

For reference, that Great American Beer Festival medal earned by what is now known as the Oneder Dog brew is the first the North Dakota brewery has taken home since 1998, meaning this lager is the best the state has produced in nearly 20 years. If you had any doubts about whether to pick up a six-pack, they should surely be wiped out by now.

Fargo Brewing is making headlines for more than their adoption drive, their commitment to community (and community service) being evident in a recently announced expansion of their facilities. During his acceptance speech at the Hollywood Film Awards in L.A., Shia publicly thanked the police officer responsible for arresting him two years ago. While grasping the award given to him in appreciation for his “Honey Boy” script, the 33-year-old actor gave thanks to the cop who helped turn his life around.

“I want to thank the police officer who arrested me in Georgia for changing my life,” he said.

Shia would go on to give props to his sponsor — the actor is as open about his many struggles with sobriety in the past — as well as his therapist and his folks. Footage from the 2017 arrest in which Shia was charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, showed the “Eagle Eye” star go on a wildly offensive rant while evidently intoxicated.

Known as a bit of a loose cannon in many respects, it seems that Shia might be looking to reconnect with audiences in a more mature and honest way via “Honey Boy.” Having writing the award-winning script himself, the actor and writer will also see himself take the lead role in the autobiographical film. Close friend Alma Har'el will be seated in the director's chair, the two having built an unlikely relationship after Shia discovered her work misplaced in the Bob Dylan section at a record store. 

Seven years later, in the aftermath of Shia's 2017 arrest, he would send Har’el the first pages of his very personal script — one that would become “Honey Boy.”

“Alma was the only person talking to me at the time,” he told Indie Wire. “I was nuclear for quite a while, working my way through it. I didn’t have a whole lot of people to send stuff to; even my mother told me to f*ck off. I wasn’t thinking it was material for a movie. I thought I’d get out of rehab and go to meetings and she’d be my sponsor.”

A child actor who, by his own account, grew up with an alcoholic ex-con of a father who frequently dragged his son from flophouse hotel to flophouse hotel, Shia LaBeouf now stands ready to make amends for the worst excesses of his past, letting his art do the talking. “Honey Boy” has already received broad critical acclaim, and opens for wider distribution on November 8.

Not satisfied by John Cena's straight-up response to Turner's question, Key threw in an amusing aside. “That's game,” Key joked. “Especially if it's real!”

While Cena is famous for his one-liner of “you can't see me,” fans could certainly see where he was coming from in terms of his romantic philosophy.

As soon as the news of his profile broke, Affleck reportedly revamped his Raya profile replacing the previous song on his profile with Bob Marley's “Guava Jelly” and apparently swapping out almost all of his photos for new ones.

Which then led to the actor taking to Instagram to admit that yes, he is dating, but that he’d like to use the news to bring attention to something else he is passionate about.

Deadheads the world over are rejoicing over the news that America's favorite jam band — the Grateful Dead — will release their own beer — American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA.

Pairing up with the famous Dogfish Head Craft Brewery based out of Delaware (a brand responsible for wild names such as Liquid Truth Serum IPA, Flesh and Blood IPA and Punkin Ale), the tag team is set to launch a “psychedelic” new product.

According to Dogfish Head, American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA is a remaster of a previous smash-hit. American Beauty has been a mainstay of the Dogfish Head beer library for four years now, and with this latest version, they're looking to capture the free-spirited fun of the Grateful Dead's “American Beauty” album (and the beloved track “Ripple” in particular).

The perfect accompaniment to the laid-back folk song, this latest collab between what remains of the Grateful Dead establishment and the up-and-coming Dogfish Head brand promises a 7% ABV alongside hints of citrus and tropical fruit. In true hippie fashion, the blend is also bound together by the use of a hoppy, piney yeast to impart a strong earthy flavor common to most India pale ales. The usage of spelt in the mixture adds even more of a heritage craft beer feel to the entire affair.

Even the founder of Dogfish Head himself, Sam Calagione, got into the spirit. In a recent press release, the exec made it dead obvious that he was entirely here for this opportunity to blend tunes and booze at the same time.

The reason for paying such deep homage to “Ripple”? The song itself is one of the Grateful Dead's best known, and the band's signature themes of love, understanding and seeking a higher truth are interwoven through the lyrics. Perhaps after a case of the beer inspired by the 1970 single, the words will make a little more sense, even to casual listeners.

Dogfish Head plans to drop the American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA in 45 different states common to their broader distribution network, and the beer will be available both in 6-pack and 12-pack sizes. Despite the fact that the Grateful Dead officially departed the scene in 1995 — given the death of core member and multi-instrumentalist Jerry Garcia — their legacy lives on to this day, deadheads still flocking to see legacy acts.

Maybe the same crowd — and a new flock of invigorated beer snobs or hipsters — will see enough appeal in this pink-and-yellow can to snag a case from the local cooler.

Adidas to Release Star Wars-Themed Shoe Collection

When most people think of Adidas, athletic sneakers often spring to mind. Collabs with famous NBA players, soccer superstars and other athletes top the list of celebrity ties-in common to the famous black and white brand. Now, it seems that the Force is strong with the sneaker brand’s newest Adidas Star Wars kicks.

The newest lines of sneakers, according to a recent release, include three different packs across the brand’s Basketball, Running, and Originals Adidas lines. The Lightsaber-themed pack will be released first, followed by the Space Battle Pack, and the Characters pack. Each pack celebrates “Star Wars” with lightsabers, starships, and your favorite characters, each version of the kicks as equally suited for taking on the rebels as it is for supporting your feet for a late-night food run.

Fans of quirky — and decidedly nerdy — combo won’t be disappointed with the Lightsaber-themed pack. Some of the details include kyber crystal-themed elements, purple accents that pay homage to Mace Windu, and even features inspired by Luke Skywalker’s green lightsaber.

There’s also a junior edition if you have younger fans who’d also like to sport a pair of the new Star Wars sneakers. And, it isn’t just shoes. The line includes hoodies, crewnecks, and sweatpants.

While the Lightsaber-themed sneakers aren't hitting store shelves just yet, they’ll be available November 1 at select Adidas stores for $70-$140 — plenty of time to wear them to opening day for the final movie in this most recent “Star Wars” trilogy. “Rise of the Skywalker” hits theaters just before Christmas, on December 20, so you’ve got plenty of time to grab a pair for the sneakerheads and “Star Wars” fans in your life.

Hair Wellness Movement Aims to Help Men With Balding Issues

Bald is beautiful, or so the old saying goes. Whether you’re talking about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Vin Diesel, Jason Statham or any number of other A-List Hollywood hunks sporting bare heads, the stigma around male pattern baldness seems to be receding – no pun intended. In 2019, according to the NYT, the term “hair loss” is now being replaced with a more positive spin in the form of “hair wellness,” which can help more men deal with balding.

Many men (and women) wrestle with balding, a personal shame to some and point of pride for others, though more commonly it is the former which makes headlines. Reddit forums such as r/tressless act as impromptu support groups for people who are anxiety-ridden over their lack of locks, and an almost incalculable amount of money is spent battling baldness each and every year.

To sum it up: going bald is still a big deal for men, and no matter how you cut it, hair is important to a lot of dudes.

However, hair wellness is a booming market trend precisely because it doesn't trade on the fear and shame of the products in the past. Hair wellness brand Hims recently shared its stance on the subject: “We hope to enable a conversation that’s currently closeted. Men aren’t supposed to care for themselves. We call bullshit.”

And how, exactly, does hair wellness tackle the problem of male balding? By borrowing some sage advice from women, tackling concepts like split ends, thinning strands and volumizing, in addition to taking a holistic approach to hair care. Instead of focusing on one narrow element, companies such as Hims want men to understand that there's more to keeping your hair than simply slapping on some Rogaine and calling it a day.

What Options Are Out There?

Unfortunately, at the moment the options aren’t all that simple. Hims and other companies like it provide access to generic drugs finasteride and minoxidil, with the former drug being extremely popular among balding men. The catch? There are some common sexual side effects (lack of libido, most notably) that come along with finasteride, and research has been done to see if the drug can also increase the likelihood of developing prostate cancer, with studies showing mixed results.

The fact that, despite the risks, finasteride remains a hot seller should reveal everything we need to know about the relationship between men and a full head of hair. That is to say, it matters deeply to many, with men willing to put their sex lives and perhaps entire life on the line in service of improving their image.

Hair wellness is a growing movement meant to build a bride of support (and supporting products) for just these sorts of men. Hopefully, with increased awareness of how deep the pain associated with hair loss can be, a kinder and more compassionate understanding can develop.

In his most recent remarks on the upcoming launch of the BARE service, Beesley made it quite clear that in the group’s eyes, d*ck pics don't have to come with such a negative stigma attached, necessarily.

“The issue of unsolicited [penis] pics is that they are ‘unsolicited.' There are many who would like to receive these if they are given a choice,” Beesley told Forbes. “To be in a flirtatious conversation with someone — and slowly revealing yourself to that person little by little is a very sexy thing.”

So, ladies and gentlemen, you can start hitting BARE if you're looking for something a little naughtier and more risque. A custom crop tool is built into the app which allows you to take your selfies and block out parts you don't want to send. Want to take a snapshot of your whole body and then reveal it one portion at a time like a virtual striptease? You can. That's what makes it so hot, according to the developers.

“The endless swiping culture is not only tedious but also extremely superficial, especially if you have a certain set of needs when dating,” Beesley said. “People want options... We want BARE to become a place for people to be comfortable with talking about and showing off their body under their terms.”

The main difference between people sending unsolicited nudes on other dating apps, and sending your pics on BARE? Consent. In order to sign up for BARE, you'll need to provide authentic and valid government ID proving your age, and you'll also be held to account for your behavior on the platform. No guys and girls trying to gross out everyone else with unwanted advances this time around, but if you want to get down and dirty with someone who's also into it — that's what the platform is here for.

A little more modest by nature? That's fine too, as Beesly points out.

“It effectively makes sexting safe and is the first dating app to do so... But if you choose to only show your eyes or the curve of your lower back, then that is completely your choice.”

Maybe we can have our nudes with chivalry and courtship in 2019, after all.

Paperclipping Is the Latest Dating Trend That You Need to Know

In Rothenberg’s cartoons, his faux-cheerful wire smile and huge anime-style eyes at once comforting and creepy, “pop up for no reason at all” and don’t want you to forget they exist.

To hear the illustrator tell it, her own brief dating experience with a particularly flaky fellow served as motivation to bring Clippy back to life in 2019, the iconic character now reincarnated as an emblem for needy yet distant people in today's high-tech dating pool.

“I dated a guy briefly, though he'd continue to text me randomly weeks and months after it fizzled,” Rothenberg told NBC News. “Sometimes I'd answer with a monosyllabic response, and sometimes I'd just ignore him. He eventually took the hint and I never heard from him again.”

Perhaps even worse than ghosting — and certainly more aggravating — paperclipping relies on the emotional boomerang effect to do maximum damage to one's emotions. Sort of like the older term “emotional vampire,” those who engage in so-called paperclipping do so because of their own damaged selves, their own insecurities, feeding their own sense of validation by tapping others regardless of how that person might feel about the contact.

The bottom line? It might be best to completely avoid people who attempt to dart in and out of your life without paying lip service to your own emotional, physical, and romantic needs. As useless and annoying as Clippy was, those bad boys and girls who now adopt his namesake as Paperclippers could be even more harmful to your mental health and sense of well-being.

Burt Reynolds Smokey Trans Am Up for Auction by U.S. Marshals

Fans of Smokey and the Bandit might be interested in where Burt Reynolds’ iconic 1978 Pontiac Trans Am, “Smokey” might have ended up. The memento of that signature silver screen effort is going up for auction in the unlikeliest of places — the U.S. Marshals auction block.

Up for grabs is a car from Burt Reynolds' personal collection, a 1978 Trans Am hardtop sporting the unforgettable golden firebird splashed across the hood. As you might guess, this ride comes with bucket seats and a customized suspension — and of course, Bandit Run decals everywhere. Despite the auction closing at the end of the day on Saturday, October 26, 59 bids placed on Reynolds' old ride have already driven the price up to $55,025.

(Which might be a bad deal when you consider that the car only has about 3,400 miles on it.)

According to Auto Blog, in an ironic twist of fate which seems to almost pay homage to the outlaw roots celebrated in Smokey and the Bandit, this Trans Am was seized by federal law enforcement officials, having been reclaimed from alleged criminals behind an $800 million investment scheme. The former owners, Jeff and Paulette Carpoff, saw the fleet of vehicles seized from them after being accused of massive fraud — allegedly even managing to hoodwink renowned billionaire Warren Buffett in the process.

While white collar crime may not have the same punch as, say, grand theft auto, stunting, or reckless driving, it certainly explains why this extremely valuable piece of Hollywood Americana is up for auction alongside 148 other high-end rides.

Also up for grabs at this auction? Some Humvees from the 1990s, an ancient and well-preserved 1939 Buick Roadmaster, a 1941 Plymouth Special Delux, and a number of hotrod Mustangs and Camaros from the golden age of American muscle, the 1960s. 

An autograph left behind on the glove box simply reads “Be safe! Burt Reynolds,” a testament to the late actor's sense of humor and humility. Fans of his — and of classic cars in general — looking to scoop up a deal would do well to head down to Woodland, California, this weekend. The U.S. Marshals Auction is to be held at Apple Towing.

With “Rise of the Skywalker” coming to theaters this holiday season and expected to smash box-office records as the conclusion of the newest Star Wars trilogy warps to the silver screen, it makes perfect sense for the brand to launch new gear. Given the massive hype train building up steam around this inevitable battle between Rey and Kylo Ren — light side and dark side, Jedi and Sith respectively — there’s really no better time than now for Levi's to team up with Disney and Lucasfilm to kick off their own casual-chic rebellion.

Traditional casualwear like t-shirts, hoodies, and trucker jackets are all going to be part of this glossy, sci-fi infused collection. Levi's promises that a nerdy blend of fan-favorite one-liners will also be splashed across some of the offerings. For example, Darth Vader's iconic “I am your father” line will be represented on some items in the Levi's x Star Wars collab, as will the title crawl lede of “In a galaxy far, far away,” and Chewbacca's signature “GGWWWRGHH!” roar. (At least, we think that's how it's spelled.)

And it's not only diehard force-wielding fans who are super amped up over the idea of getting to rep an American brand with an intergalactic twist; Levi's executive Jonathan Cheung was equally excited in his remarks concerning the deal.

“Lucasfilm and Levi’s are San Francisco neighbors. When we found out that the final chapter of the Skywalker Saga was coming at the end of 2019, we bundled up our Jedi and headed to Lucasfilm looking for Droids,” Cheung said. “And here’s [a] barely known, fun fact: Luke Skywalker was wearing Levi’s in the original trilogy — white Levi’s! Now it’s our turn to return the compliment with Vader, droids, Chewie and Leia.”

One of the coolest looks of the collection — a pocketed black jacket covered in cosmic colors, X-Wing fighters, Millennium Falcons, and Death Stars — comes in both men's and women’s, with matching pants. If that's not enough Star Wars swagger for you, there are also co-branded beanies, snapbacks, and even a fanny pack with the Levi's logo fused with the iconic golden Star Wars font.

Beat that, Star Trek.

“Rise of the Skywalker” will premiere on December 20 in the United States, and if previous results are any indication, the film will almost certainly clear well over $1 billion. The first outing, “The Force Awakens,” actually managed to eke out just over $2 billion in global box office revenue, with the commercially panned sequel, “The Last Jedi,” still managed a respectable $1.31 billion.

Star Wars is big money no matter what, with Disney pushing it into the stratosphere with the November launch of Disney Plus. Levi's is as iconic now as it ever was. Together, the two could rule the galaxy.

Boasting reflective accents that not only deflect laser fire (disclaimer: they actually don't) in addition to adding some night-time visibility for safety's sake, the shoe lives up to its name. A full-length Boost insole provides support for professional stormtroopers used to running to and from various blaster battles, and an OrthoLite sock liner provides a luxurious shield between you and the force placed on your feet.

Nick Offerman Launching His Own Lagavulin Scotch
